"The UNs secrecy is breathtaking."And it pales when compared to their criminality.

A supposedly charitable effort meant to relieve the suffering of ordinary Iraqis, it has been shrouded in secrecy to disguise its descent into corruption and disgrace Yes. I would like to see criminal charges brought against the administrators of this massive fraud.
They are disgusting.

I know, let's let the french keep the 20 billion that's in their bank. We'll just confiscate $20 billion in assets here to give to the people of Iraq.

"The US and Britain should announce its replacement: all future oil revenues will be placed in an account held by the Iraq Central Bank but overseen by either the World Bank or the International Monetary Fund to be used for the benefit of the Iraqi people. This time the process should be transparent and honest."That is exactly what needs to be done....and why the Axis of Weasels will fight it. I suppose it's those who are directly or indirectly benefiting from the oil for palaces program who have stopped writing gloom and doom scenarios about Operation Iraqi Freedom, and started writing pieces on how this war was illegal or complaining that the streets of Baghdad aren't paved with gold yet.

We're looking at this the wrong way. Sanctions were against Iraq, not the US. Iraq is now a country which is under the protection of the US military. The US is entitled to sell all the oil it wants on the world market, and can pump it out, load it and send it as it wishes. THERE IS NO GOVERNMENT IN IRAQ and hence, no one who is under sanctions.
After we leave, and an Iraqi government is formed and begins operation, that government may have to straighten out the whole sanctions issue, but for now, it's not an issue. THE US IS FREE TO IMPORT AND EXPORT WHATEVER IT WANTS TO AND FROM TERRITORY UNDER ITS CONTROL AND GOVERNANCE.
Let the French stew on that for a while.

What I can't figure is why none of this comes from the US press. If it weren't for the Telegraph, my international perspective would be totally eclipsed.
