The Most Un-patriotic Town in America?
Me ^

Good Afternoon! Drove from our home in Port Angeles to the Support our Troops ceremony and rally in Port Townsend yesterday.
Formal ceremony at 1PM at Union Wharf offered prayer and appreciation for our military; many veterans spoke of their experiences. Taps was played and a young lady sang "God Bless America." It was a nice ceremony attended by approximately 60 people.
Afterwards, we walked a couple of blocks south to the ferry terminal where we remained until 3PM; we were surprisingly VERY well received! I estimate that 95-98% of public driving by honked, waved, and gave us "thumbs-up!" I counted only 4-5 vehicles whose occupants gave the "peace" sign, which we took to mean "victory" (LOL!) We were even able to say, "YES-VICTORY!" to a bicyclist! (He probably thought, "Maybe I shouldn't use that sign anymore." LOL!)
We were even treated to a drive-by of classic cars on their way to a car show, and they were ALL VERY supportive of our message.
BIG NOTE: Port Townsend HAS to be one of the most un-patriotic towns in America despite support we received, for most of support was probably from out-of-town tourists. The number of businesses downtown that had American flags displayed could be counted on one hand! I asked at one business why this was so, and she (who WAS patriotic, a wife of a military member) said that it is quite appalling, for it is understood among businesses that if they want tourist business, they must NOT display patriotism in this heavily liberal town frequented by likewise very liberal "artsy" customers!
So pass the word, FReepers, BOYCOTT Port Townsend! (Conversely, MANY, MANY Port Angeles and Sequim businesses display the flag).
I did personally thank the few businesses (2) who did display the flag (a hotel and pizza shop).
I found this lack of patriotism sad, because Port Townsend is a very pretty town, and ironic that a town that has such a rich military history (Fort Worden) can now be so liberal. But I understand that it is now predominantly populated by retired academia, starving artists, homeless hippies, and trust-fund retirees who have never had to work in their lives!
Yes, Port Townsend could be a strong candidate to be formally titled "The Most Un-patriotic Town in America!" I wonder how the Chamber of Commerce would feel about a sign stating such being posted on the edge town, similar to signs for "Tree City USA"?

Any other candidates for this most dubious honor?

Santa Fe, NM, for the same reasons -- predominantly populated by retired academia, starving artists, homeless hippies, and (rich) trust-fund retirees who have never had to work in their lives!

I live in Bellingham, and there is a very large contingent of unemployable hippie throwbacks and twenty-something drugged out anarchists that protest against the President constantly. Notice I did not say protest the war, because it is obvious that the target of their hatred is primarily President Bush, but they also hate America and capitalism. Unlike other communities in Western Washington, there weren't any counter-demonstrations here when KVI was loosely promoting them. Conservatives are very quiet here, and appear to have ceded the town to the filthy, America-hating bunch of leftist dupes that dont have jobs, so they have all the time in the world to hang out downtown, spewing pro-terror propaganda.

There's a little cow town a couple hours away from here called San Francisco. From what I've seen and heard on the news, I'd say that place is fairly un-patriotic.

I think this post is ridiculous. Conservatives certainly have something better to do than call on God to rain fire and brimstone upon small towns.

Looks like a lot of towns and cities in Washington State are under some bad leadership. I would say that a good house cleaning is in order for that state starting at the top and working its way down. With all the military families that are so wonderful in that state, I think this can be accomplished beginning with the very next election.

Santa Cruz, CA-- unpatriotic or treasonous. You decide.
The government is run by self proclaimed communists.
It actively supports Castro and is trying to bring a Castro style government to our county (our Rep Sam Farr adores Fidel and stated he wants Cuban military to be brought to the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey to learn how to put down any popular uprisings that might overthrow Castro)
The county long ago adopted the United Nations Agenda 21, which installs a soviet style council government and has taken egregious amounts of control away from property owners through a soviet style "planning department" that charges outrageously huge fees for anything you want to do on your property.

Here, in Illinois, we have Evanston, DeKalb, Oak Park, and, of course, Chicago all wasting our money passing "anti-war" hate-America resolutions. And, nationally, New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Denver, Seattle, San Francisco, Baltimore, Cleveland, Detroit, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Washington and Austin, Texas for starters.

Conservatives certainly have something better to do than call on God to rain fire and brimstone upon small towns.I'll settle for public ridicule and boycotts.

I think this post is ridiculous.
I find myself suffering from boycott-fatigue, also.
Let's boycott France and the Dixie Chicks. Leave
everyone else alone.
