Scott Peterson may have been tried and convicted by the jury of public opinion, but it may not be so simple to win a murder conviction -- let alone a death sentence -- at trial.

"This could just be a case of an immature idiot getting into a fight and killing his pregnant wife, and then doing a series of really stupid things," said former federal prosecutor Don Heller.

< sarcasm >Oh, well if that's all it was, then we should just the the dolt go free.< /sarcasm >

Everyone who thinks that the "justice system" is no longer about justice, and the "penal system" is no longer about punishment, please raise your hand.

Stupid, silly little domestic quarrels....Hey Mrs. Heller - I suggest you put a restraining order on your moron husbabd... or bash his head in with a baseball bat while he's sleeping. Don't worry, he'll understand...

I saw a report earlier today that said the police have a credit card receipt for the purchase of 'something' that could be used as 'leg irons.' Anyway, the police are claiming that the victim's body rotted away above her lower legs ... Ergo the victim probably was weighted down at the ankles. Perhaps there are boats and divers using special metal detecting equipment to locate more evidence. Only time will tell.

If they have this type of evidence: Mr. Peterson is dead already -- he just doesn't know it yet.

I was referring to having another high-profile murderer getting away scott-free.

Leg weights. He had a receipt for them and can't produce them.

He also had a receipt for a 55 gallon drum that he can't produce either.

That doesn't explain her head being missing.

How often does California execute people.

In my life time, I honestly do not remember hearing of one executed.

At the very least, Scottie's gonna lose his tan.

What would the drum be used for. To cast a concrete anchor? To put the body in?

That's what they were discussing tonight; but I thought I heard them saying he might have rolled the drum into the bay......but it seems like that would have been mighty tricky/risky for him.

I think he anchored it/her somewhere.

I read that he had cast five anchors at the warehouse in the days before she was murdered, and 3 of them are missing. Fox calls them "cement blocks." Don't know why.

Perhaps there are boats and divers using special metal detecting equipment to locate more evidence. Only time will tell.

I have read reports that they are continuing to search the Bay area for anchors, weights, rope, fishing line & hooks. Also, read that they are awaiting some special sonar from a man in Idaho.

I somehow think sitting in prison the rest of his life may just be worse punishment for this playboy, avid golfer, lover of the finer things in life, yuppie!

So, what's this idiot saying, that this doesn't deserve the "guilty" verdict????? (scratching head & saying "huh"?)

It won't. If the evidence is there he'll be duly convicted. (I'm referring naturally to presented competantly to the jury. I'm aware of what information is out there.)

In the post 9/11 world the tolerance for bizarre scenarios laid out for juries to hang their not-guilty verdicts on is low low low.
