The SUNDAY TELEGRAPH is reporting that papers found by reporters at Iraq's bombed out intelligence service building provide evidence of a direct link between Saddam Hussein's regime and Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida...
According to the papers, an al-Qaida envoy met with officials in Baghdad in March 1998 to create a relationship based upon a mutual hate of the U.S. and Saudi Arabia. An unidentified Western intelligence official describes the find as 'sensational.' MORE///

What I have never understood is why atta & company even tried to obtain government loans to purchase the crop dusters. Wasn't sadam's and other terrorist's money enough? Does the U.S. agriculture dept. require loans for folks looking to buy a crop duster?

Credit Drudge on this one. The Telegraph broke this story, but with Drudge front-paging it millions of Americans will hear about it who might otherwise have been kept in the dark by the gatekeepers of the Mainstream Press.

They are claiming this is old news. The rats have two ways of dealing with bad news -
- DENY, DENY, DENY - "it's not true, that's just _______ (fox news, bush planted fakes, etc..)"
- SPIN - "that's old news, nothing to see here"

I don't know. I do know that Zacarias Moussaoui tried to obtain crop duster procedural info. Atta and Moussaoui both researched using crop dusters for what might have been a biochemical attack, and Atta and Moussaoui both bought flight deck instructional videos for the Boeing 747 from the same retailer.

You know this takes France out of the ranks of the mere spoiler iinto the enemy, this is huge. France actually met with and shared iintelligence with the people who wanted to destroy us and tried to. This makes France more than a thorn in our side, they are the enemy. And any dem that tries to minimize this will live to regret it. The American people are going to feel this to their bones, mark my words.

Perhaps aware of the sensitivities of the subject matter, Iraqi agents at some point clumsily attempted to mask out all references to bin Laden, using white correcting fluid. The dried fluid was removed to reveal the clearly legible name three times in the documents.Wite-Out?
You can't make this stuff up.

Why the he** are reporters finding this stuff instead of US agents? What's going on here?

France IS our enemy and the enemy of the civilized world.
I keep remembering our president's own words to the effect we will make no distinction between terrorists and those countries providing them refuge or assistance.
France was assisting one of the most murderous regimes on earth (Iraq) with spreading terrorism.
When do we invade France and change that terrorist-supporting regime?

Does the U.S. agriculture dept. require loans for folks looking to buy a crop duster?Agriculture gives loans for farming-related businesses. Atta didn't quality since he wasn't a citizen (I'm surprised they actually have that restriction, considering how accommodating the government is to illegal immigrants in other areas.)
As far as you can believe the woman at the Dept. of Agriculture office in Homestead, FL who interviewed him, he wanted $650,000 -- not a small chunk of change.
The lady might have been fantasizing, but in a way it fits -- how satisfying would it be for someone who so hated America to use American money to buy the instrument of death for what he hoped would be thousands of Americans?
One additional thought: these Islamokazis have a reputation for being cheap -- remember the '93 WTC bombing case was broken when one of the conspirators tried to get a refund from the rental company from which he got the van he packed with explosives (saying it was stolen).

LOL! Yes, I had forgotten about the guy who went back for the U-Haul deposit. That's a classic, isn' it?
To: cajungirl
What about Russia, who also shared intel with sadam...
To: adamyoshida
Then there's that report from Czech intel that Atta was seen in Prague meeting with a member of the Saddam's regime. That story was been denied in several quarters, but the Czech stand by it still.
