Need help, I can't find the handgun safes I used to see ads for

Years ago I saw lots of ads for a handgun safe that fit only one handgun, had an imprint of a hand, and was opened by a selected series of finger taps. At the time I did not have a need for one, but thought that some day I would.

Well some day is here, and I'd like to get 3 of them (about to move and I want a handgun on each floor). However, I have not seen any ads for them in years.

Does anyone know where I can get one, or who makes (or used to make) them? Any URL for this product?

Any help would be appreciated. As usual, when I am ready for a product it begins to hide!

I'm curious. Why do you want a handgun on each floor if it is going to be locked away and useless?

I remeber seeing the ads for them. You can "comply" with local laws and have rapid acces to a pistol. You can unlock the box with one rapid set of pushing buttons and avoid the whole trigger lock bs. the boxes are small enough to mount behind a bed or attach under a bed.

Its a low tech bond like home gizmo.

Try Cabelas.com

www.bassproshops.com

Either of those should stock what you want. If you have kids, that sort of a safe is a good idea, at least, if you -practice utilizing them quickly.

Will you freep mail me if you find it? I'm going to be buying a small safe to keep mine in the bedroom. Right now I have it locked in the bottom of the gun case in the living room, which is too far away If I needed it, but I want something my small grandchildren can't get into also.

Snoop around the smith and wesson site. They have some safes very like what you describe.

Buy a pocketbook from Galco, if you have a CCW. It has a zippered pocket with a holster inside that can be locked. That's what I did.

How about locked away and safe, and easy to access? Sounds smart to me

Mark:
Look for the Gun Vault on E-bay! You can get a pretty good discount online, and sometimes you can use the "Buy Now" option and get a brand new safe.

If one has time enough to get to a gun before engaging a criminal, one is likely to have the 2-3 seconds necessary to spring the safe and chamber a round. Unless you never have visitors, keeping the gun in the safe is a way of ensuring it will be there, loaded, when needed [other FReepers have reported that they've had (once-welcome) guests "helpfully" unload their weapons without telling them].

If you've got it in a safe, why not leave it fully loaded?

Well, I'll tag my request on to your question and maybe answer some of it.

There are disparate carry laws for citizens with and without Concealed Weapons Permits in South Carolina. Anyone not otherwise disbarred their Second Amendment Rights may carry a firearm in their glovebox, console or trunk not necessarily locked [SC ST SEC 16-23-20]. This is interpreted such that a car-safe is not legal carry.

South Carolina does not allow a permittee to CCW-CWP in premises licensed for on premises consumption of alcohol [SC ST SEC 16-23-465]. If I, a concealed weapon permittee go to dinner at a nice restaurant that serves alcohol then I must leave my weapon in the car and in a non-secure container.

I prefer to have a car-safe for secure storage pending changes to our law. Has anyone made a satisfactory car-safe installation in a New Beetle? With modern small cars comes space too tightly integrated to allow unique applications.

I bought one several years ago and have been pleased. Just remember to change the batteries.

That is exactly the one, thanks! Odd though, I'm sure I checked the Cabela's web site! The price is better than I thought it would be too.

Thanks again everyone!
