Funny you believe the first unsubtantiated accusation.

As some of us pointed out, just look at Blair's actions. He had a lot of problems at home, yet he stood steadfastly by us.

He probably listened to Clinton, to be polite, but ignored him, obviously.

Just stop and think, clearly what Clinton was trying to do, was to put a wedge between Blair and Bush to bust the coalition.

Clinton is the dirty weasel and worse!

Well, my respect for Blair just took a slight dip. Maybe when the White House detected this meeting is when the rug was pulled on resolution #2.

How can you consider it spin when it portrays the ex-President as trying to undermine the current President?

As someone here already said, I don't doubt that Clinton was offering the advice. Its clear that, in the end, Blair did not take it.

I don't think Clinton comes out looking good in this.

Clinton was giving Saddam time to hide and destroy WMD.

The courage of Blair lies in the exact fact that he rose above ideology to support what's right, despite the attacks on him by his own party.

Exactly.

Clinton was giving advice to help his old pal and solve the impasse...except Bill didn't want the impasse solved.

What Bill thought was that Chirac and Schroeder would lure Bush into working with the UN, and that they could humiliate the US and keep us tied up forever in Blixomania.

This was not an effort to help Blair, but rather one to sabotage Bush (Blair would have been collateral damage).

I am also certain that Bush knew that Clinton was talking to Blair.

Yep, I'd bet that The Bent One was the source for this piece.

Funny you believe the first unsubtantiated accusation.

It's not funny at all, IMO. Too many people on here are quick to believe anything and everything bad about Bush.

believe what you want! A socialist is what he is and he is no friend of America unless its Clintons America!

For the war with Iraq we did not need his help ever!

he only delayed it for months and months.

Yeah, so Clinton invites himself to Blair's place and Blair, being a gentleman, agrees to have him over.

But that doesn't mean Blair was seeking his advice.

This is all about Clinton being Clinton. The guy really thinks he is sombody.

I agree.

Bus some here were ready to jump on Blair and believe all the propaganda Clinton was spreading.

The spin part is how much Blair valued Clinton's advice, when obviously he ignored it.

Clinton's agenda was exactly to make Bush look bad, by peeling off his major true ally, Blair.

What advice might that be, I wonder.

I see a pattern emerging here. First, it was Clinton's military that won the war. Now, it's Clinton that helped Tony grow a spine.

Next, it will be Clinton's reconstruction plan that Rummy's been using.

You know, I am quite certain that Bush knew whenever Clinton met with Blair. It may have been a surprise to The Guardian, but since the Secret Service (employees of the US government) accompany Clinton wherever he goes, it was NOT a surprise to Presidient Bush.

Since Blair apparently ignored Clinton and stood with Bush and the US, what is your beef, exactly? Even President Bush has to meet with some idiots from time to time. It doesn't mean he takes their advice.

This is just Clinton trying to spin his role into something more relevant than it was.

I am with you on this one! I said all along that those six benchmarks sounded like Clinton had written them.

Blair's stalling because of that idiotic 2nd resolution that was never going to pass made our military go through those horrendous sandstorms and allowed Saddam time to continue to hide his WMD's and shred evidence. We should have gone in no later than February and the build-up would have happened sooner if necessary. Instead our military strung it out because of the stupid debate in the UN that Blair was part and parcel of -- delay, delay, delay.

If people cannot see that Clinton was involved with Blair, no amount of talking about it is going to change minds. They had better remember back to that first news conference from the White House with Blair when Pres Bush was ready to spit nails he was so mad.

Clinton has been advising Blair on almost everything including how he could win elections for his party in Britain. It isn't Blair being nice, Blair likes Clinton!

Personally I give up trying to convince people that Blair was backed into a corner and had no way out but to support Pres Bush. Would be willing to bet that he thought that President Bush was going to blink and just send in some AF/Navy planes and be done with it -- just like Clinton did! Instead Pres Bush said he would liberate the Iraqi people and he followed through.

Will never, ever trust Tony Blair! He is a member of the Labour Party, backed clinton during impeachment, and stayed friends with him to this day, and did I forget to add that he supported clinton to take over Oxford!

But then what do I know!
