PYONGYANG, North Korea -- North Korea is sticking by its demand that Washington end its "hostile policy" towards Pyongyang, saying that in the present situation war may break out at "any moment" on the Korean Pensinsula.

The stark warning came as U.S. and North Korean officials began a second day of talks in Beijing aimed at easing months of tensions over the North's alleged nuclear weapons program.

Sounds like Kim's monetary situation may be getting unbearable, if Little Sh!t's ratcheting up the rhetoric like that.

I'm sure I speak for a large number of American citizens what I say I am sick and tired of my country sitting still and taking this kind of abuse and extortion from these vile, tin-pot dictators. You would think that they would think twice after our annihilation of the old Iraqi regime, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Were it up to me, there would have already been a 5 kiloton tactical warhead detonated a few miles directly over Pyongyang as a warning shot. That would be my way of saying, "You want to tango, little man? Let's see what you've got!"

On a side note, what the hell is wrong with short men? Napoleon, Stalin, Kim - all under five-foot-five, and all inflicting death and suffering on millions. Talk about your sinister midgets!

"How do you square Jung's fear with his saber rattling, sword man? Doesn't make a-sense."

your bigotry is showing grasshopper... Jung feels cornered by the display of 'swordsmanship' by the bush administration. When cornered a desperate tyrant resorts to threats of unmitigated disaster.

Any way you slice it, a war on the Korean Peninsula would be disastrous. N. Korea has hoards of artillery pieces on rails they can wheel out from hardened bunkers and anhilliate Seoul in less than an hour of any attack beginning. Fact is they've had that deterrant for a very long time.

And if war does break out, you can probably say goodbye to nearly all of out almost 40k troops on the DMZ.

It's starting to look like Daffy Duck is gonna go for broke.

Does anyone know if NK's army has come down off of alert status and gone back to farming ? If they are still on alert, then they are planning on going to war.

“Fixed fortifications are monuments to man's stupidity.”

-- G.S. Patton, Jr.

(disclaimer) The remainder of this post is just my speculation, probably just a whole bunch of Bravo Sierra. But it could be enough to spark the conversation.(/disclaimer)

The first move towards a US Led Border incursion could be a withdrawal of troops from the 38th Parallel (quietly under the disguise of being obedient to the wishes of the various communist infiltrator groups in South Korea). Followed by the identification and precision removal of these fixed artillery positions.

A few shells will undoubtedly land in Seoul, but any North Korean soldier who pulls a trigger on one of those artillery positions will learn the hard way that his position has been compromised. If the North Koreans decide that a massive invasion is the answer to their dilemma, then we have anti-personnel weapons which went unused in the Middle East.

Undoubtedly there are alot of blanks to fill into this strategy. But I would not bet against a highly mobile Joint Military Command with a rapid deployment capability.

Of course, It would be preferable if Kim Jung Il would be convinced by his regional partners to back down from his pride and paranoia. I give the North Korean army credit for being Big and Scary. But I dont see a reason to be hysterical about the massive strength of the North Korean military, for heavens sake they are eating from US supplied food donations courtesy of the Clinton Administration!

In such a situation it said the "master key" to any progress in the talks was for Washington to make a "bold switchover" in its policy toward the North.

Translation: Give more food and oil like that nice President Clinton and we will be content to threaten you with nuclear weapons and sell missiles and nukes to other radical America-hating regimes. Otherwise, we may launch at once on Japan and South Korea.

Cut off the food and oil immediately. And lament the tragedy of SARS striking North Korea in epidemic proportions. SARS would sweep through the DPRK military in a way reminiscent of the disease outbreaks that caused most of the deaths in medieval European armies due to poor sanitation.

I agree, Jack. If our military action in Iraq showed anything . . . it showed that there's a NEW SHERIFF in town and he wields weapons and tactics more powerful than anything the world has ever seen before -- and they're delivered by the baddest warriors in history.

Yes, a war in North Korea would be bloody and horrific and unimaginable. No one I know wants to go to war. But if it has to be . . . it has to be and the North Koreans might get off an initial barrage before our smart-bomb fury takes them out but when the next NK soldier shows his head, it'll be whacked off and handed to him.

This period, right now, could be the the most important period in human history. The United States has a unique opportunity to rid the world of evil despots and dictators. I'm not advocating that we take on every evil country in the world. We won't have to. A few more Iraqs and the Saddams of the world will get the message. What's MOST important for those bent on doing evil to know is we're willing and able to do something about them. They've been given free passes for sixty years, that's long enough. No more just talking.

Some wonder what right we have to decide what is good or evil. I say . . . "If not us, then who? Please show me another country more moral and fair and caring than the U.S."

Some say we're too powerful and only want to IMPOSE our will on the rest of the world. I say . . . "Show me an example where we've done that? We righted Japan . . . and left. Ditto for Germany. What did the USSR do when they invaded Eastern Europe?"

Some say one man, whoever is our President, shouldn't have so much power. I say . . . "The American people are the ones who hold the power and we won't allow our Presidents to get too far out of line. History supports us in that. Nixon went too far . . . gone. Carter went too soft . . . gone. Pee Wee Clinton went too every-damn-thing . . . Republicans in Congress held him at bay. Even when a President serves two full terms, we have counter-balances to his power. Unlike in most other countries, a U.S. President can't call the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and order him to kill his political enemies. The U.S. military swears to uphold our Constitution, not a person."

In conclusion, I too pray for peace in North Korea. But, just as in Iraq, I pray for long-term peace, not a short-term peace that appeasement would bring. GW must remain resolute. The American people must support him. We truly are at a unique time in history. Think about it . . . See if you can come up with another period in history where one country -- a caring, benevolent, moral country like ours -- had so much unopposed power. The American people won't allow our leaders to take advantage of this power. Now . . . now . . . we must strike now before this golden opportunity passes us by. We can either pass peace along to our grandchildren OR we can pass along a hundred Saddams to our children . . . and their children . . . and their children . . .
