I'm Sorry, I Didn't Think I Was Going to Talk About Man on Dog with a United States Senator
ABC News Web Site ^

Could anyone deny that most Washington reporters tend to move more aggressively to bring down Republicans in trouble than Democrats in trouble?

And could anyone deny that Democratic operatives work harder to build the kind of relationships with journalists that pay off at times like these?

And could anyone deny the causal connection between the phenomena described in the previous two paragraphs?

In any event, it's pretty clear that a Democratic party, which still is trying to figure out what it does well with its current array of personnel, is exercising the same muscles that allowed it to score point after point in driving Trent Lott from the leadership.

The current Democratic gambit seems to be to try to get prominent Republicans to say what they think of Santorum's remarks, and, in some cases, to call for the Senator to be removed from the leadership.

The folks at The Note are well aware of the liberal bias in the media and they are consciously fair-minded in their approach.

This whole affair will have the effect of turning the Senate into the least deliberative body in the world.

This man is a disgrace to the United States senate.

Nonsense. He's right on the money as far as states' rights, and while I disagree on the social role of government his position is a widely-held one. There's nothing the least bit disgraceful in his comments.

I am sick of the double standard. Hillary & Bill could do anything and use any slurs. Same with other Democrats.

But there was a huge outcry at Lott. Personally, I never cared for Lott. But this was one time I felt obligated to defend him. His comments were nothing.

I am sick of people going into a hissy fit over ever comment. I defend both those with whom I agree or disagree.

Can't figure out why FReepers keep responding to Eaglebeak in a serious manner on all three threads. Have you ever tried to say something serious to someone who is drunk? Like spitting in the wind. Just ignore Eaglebeak.

I'm Sorry, I Didn't Think I Was Going to Talk About Man on Dog with a United States Senator...

Considering what passes for the Democratic caucus these days, I'm surprised we haven't had to already.

Lott's remarks bothered me, and I was happy to see him step down, although I didn't think he should resign his seat. Lott wasn't forced out by Demos, he was forced out by his fellow Repubs who were likewise bothered by what he said, and how many times he had repeated it on other occasions.

There is nothing scandalous about Santorum's remarks at all. I don't agree with his legal reasoning, but I am not shocked by what he said, and he owes no one any kind of apology. The people who are "outraged" over his remarks are all Demos, and they are all people who are permanently outraged whatever happens and whatever day of the week it happens to be. Ignore them.

Tha assault on Rick Santorum is a planned democrat operation designed to serve the special interest of one of their deviant constituencies. The entire flap was manufactured and the media were enlisted willingly to assist with the action.

What Rick said is exactly the same notion offered by the attorney representing the deviants seeking the SCOTUS to put aside their conviction in Texas. The homosexual 'pink-Ew'wing of the democrat party are getting their pound of deviant flesh out of the democrat party and the willing, gleeful disgusting alphabet networks.

This ol' boy, for one, is getting sick of tolerating such defense of deviancy. I'm out to assert intolerance, as the right of the society to repudiate these corrupters of our Republic, rejecting their PC drivel popped up as 'the civility of liberalism'. Vote out the bastards that give weight and voice to these deviants and the porblems of OUR nation will begin to subside.
