[history]
About one-third of Americans say they would boycott a celebrity's work if they disagreed with the star's political statements, according to polling data that will be released today by VH1.
The poll found that more than half of Americans say it's inappropriate for celebrities to make public statements about political events, and 33 percent say if they disagreed with those statements they would avoid purchasing the person's book, movie or music.

I heard that Jennifer Aniston has made some truly bad statements about the US.
Tim Robbins was bitingly summed up in Tom Knott's article yesterday. Hillarious!
I found Madonna's video particularly offensive.
NASCAR's extensive support of at least one anti-US group has led to a letter of protest from the National Legal and Policy Center to its CEO. I find NASCAR's actions utterly offensive.
Dixie Chicks are mild compared to the others. Too trivial and only by one of them to really warrant outrage.

I have always boycotted The Today Show, but this morning Matt Lauer and Madonna will be on singing her new Anti-American song together, so now I am finding their sponsors and boycotting them as well.

ABC reported the Lipton TV ad was shelved indefinitly.
The chix are doing another damage control tv interview with diane sawyer.
She lied in the appology.
Her manager lied about FR and a VRWC to "get the chix"
Lipton was indifferent to our objections
Her PR department ignored the protests
In Australia, maines said she did not mean the appology and DID believe what she said.
Now they expect us to believe anything.
This sawyer interview is to shield manes with "the other two". Garner sympathy for "the other two" and then manes will be safe and the chix can continue.
NOT IN MY WALLET.

I know it's old news ...the Dixie Chicks...but
it really hit me in the heart...we were total fans.
Now I'm trying to unload 4 tickets to their July concert in
SandyEggo. If only there were a way to refund them
so they wouldn't get my money... I don't think her callous
remark was trivial at all.

Donating the tickets will get you a cut in your taxes if you itemize. (like a homeless shelter)

Dixie Chicks are mild compared to the others. Too trivial and only by one of them to really warrant outrage. I disagree. Big time. Maines made her idiotic comments on foreign soil, during wartime. That is bad enough. Worse still, I have a sneaking suspicion that her comments were part of a calculated strategy that badly backfired. There is an interesting thread about this.

I have no problem whatsoever with these empty-headed entertainers spouting off about their hatred for war, Bush or America. They are entitled to take unpopular stands; we are entitled to remind them that such crap comes with a commercial price. The latter is our exercise of freedom--the freedom not to give patronage to any people, products or services associated with these folks.

If so, you can dispute the charge within 60 days of it showing up on the bill. All you have to do is say that you are no longer satisfied with the quality of the product offered. By law, the credit card company must reverse the charges unless and until the vendor can refute your claim. Since customer satisfaction is a very subjective issue, it is almost impossible for the vendor to refute the claim.

It's losing fans like you that's killing the Dixie Chicks. I'm so proud of you.

The article is "Peacenik Robbins' platform is mostly Bull" by Tom Knott, The Washington Times, April 21, 2003 C1,7
I find the statements of Robbins, Saradon, and Madonna extremely offensive at this time when we are at war.
As for NASCAR, it is Rev. Jesse Jackson's No. 1 supporter in professional sports industry, according to The Washington Times. Apparently NHL also contributes to Rev. Jesse.

Give them to four street people who haven't bathed in six months. If they attend the concert, anyone sitting within ten feet of them will be tempted to get up and leave, thereby giving the impression that the audience is walking out on the Chix.

If this keeps up we will be forced to provide federal funds to these performers who get boycotted.
