It's Earth Day. Find out how evil you are.
My Footprint ^

Posted on 04/22/2003 5:27:40 AM PDT by Valin

If everyone live like your humble servant it would take 4 earths. I'm so ashamed of myself. :-( I was hoping for more, it's obvious that in the coming year I will have to buckledown and try harder.

Oh, that's nothing! I drive 36 miles each way to work - I need 9.2 planets. I guess I get the whole solar system plus Planet X.

I take up 0.8 hectares.

Did I mention I'm an 8 year old Kenyan boy who eats locally grown, unprocessed vegan food, lives with 7 other people in a 20 square meter home without water or electricity, and never travels except on an animal?

I was also wondering whether the survey was country-specific. I entered as a suburban Chicagoan (4.4 earths) and then pretended to live in France with the same responses and only used up 2.8 earths. At first I was confused. Then I realized that taking a bath more than one a week must use almost 2 earths.

Ha. I took the quiz again, living in a city of between 10 - 100K people, and then selected the absolutely most primitive conditions: vegan diet, no running water or electricity, never driving or riding a motor vehicle, never flying, 500 sq foot house, etc - you know, their ideal conditions.

I *still* took up more than one planet: 1.1 planets. I guess it's time to move out of a populated town, eh? This quiz is seriously flawed! (obviousness alert)

I lied through my teeth, and my footprint would still take up 1.5 earths. I think they rig the quiz, so that we feel guilty for living in the US. Now I'll go back and really take the quiz.

21 planets for me! I fly a lot for work, and I drive a lot on the weekends transporting dogs to rescues, fosters, and forever homes.

No allowance for Harley-Davidson?!?

Actually that was my real answer too. I don't have a motorbike...motorcycle or even a moped. So no allowance for something I don't have. But like I said answering like I did (faking it) gave one earth.

Only 7.2 planets. I need to get a bigger place out in the country, and buy some larger cars so I can use up more. I'm disappointed with myself.
