Gene Simmons of Kiss tells it right.. IMHO a "BIG SURPRISE!"
Gene Simmons web site ^ | unknown | Gene Simmons

Posted on 04/21/2003 1:25:29 PM PDT by Bob Eimiller

From Gene Simmons web site: Recently, because of the War in Iraq, our letters pages have become a forum for all sorts of views. A few of you have expressed concern and sometimes outrage at some of my responses. And, perhaps a word of explanation is in order.

First, and most important, I stand by my words.

......

I have said in this political climate, that I am ashamed of the behavior of people who call themselves either members of the Democratic Party (whose politics I usually support, incidentally) or as Liberals (funny, I always thought I was one). But, I will not hesitate to tell someone off. I believe in a form of politics that supercedes philosophical discussions. I believe in Pragmatism.

Pacifism is a beautiful word. No one wants war. Not you. Not I. But, the most passionate Pacifist is only relatively so. What I mean is, it's easy to be a Pacifist here in America. That's because Hussein and other menaces are far away. The closer a gun is pointed to your head, the less of a Pacifist you are...the more you're interested in stopping the guy pointing the gun to your head.

Granted. Saddam Hussein never pointed a gun to my head. I also never want to wait long enough for him to do so. PRE-EMPTIVE WAR is one of the realities we all have to face. There will never be another 9/11...and I could give a sh#t if there is or isn't a direct line to Hussein. He had to go. Period. That regime wouldn't think twice about giving an extremist a suitcase filled with a dirty bomb.

I am passionate about America. It has given me (and in my estimation, the world) everything I ever wanted... including the right to disagree, without winding up in a can of dog food. And, because of my passionate love of America, warts and all, I will stand up and defend her at the drop of a hat.

Is America always right? No. But for 100 years, it seems to me, it has gotten most of it right. The most powerful force the world has ever known is not conquering other countries. Previous world powers, had a colonial agenda. This included at various times in history: Rome, Greece, Nazi Germany, France, England, Communist Russia and Persia. There are more.

But, aside from the French complaining (don't they always?) about the influx of the AMERICAN CULTURE, I don't see America expanding its borders...All the countries in the world are free to rule themselves as they see fit...as long as they don't threaten anyone else.

So, the letter column has tended to veer towards your letters. I didn't push it there. You did. DON'T START SOMETHING, UNLESS YOU WANT TO FINISH IT. If you write letters and are willing to give...you better be willing to get.

Because I give as good as I get.

"America, love it or leave it?" I never subscribed to that ideal. It's actually UnAmerican. I DO believe in different opinions. But, I am also ashamed of any American especially, who gets up on stage in a different country to badmouth America, while American troops are dying in a desert country they would never want to live in.

Is that behavior giving aid and comfort to the enemy? You bet your fu#kin' a$$. In jail, when you misbehave, you get b#tch slapped, or you become someone's b#tch

In life, you should be held accountable for anything that comes out of your mouth, not just your a$$.

Yelling FIRE in a movie theater, is NOT freedom of speech.

The war, for the most part is over. The British and the Aussies, (God bless em both,) amid a murky political situation, stood alongside Americans and did what had to be done.

The Iraqi's are free.

I suggest anyone having a problem with this war go talk to the Iraqi's. Ask them if they prefer freedom (even at the price of, initially having what seems to be chaos), or if they prefer Saddam Hussein come back and reinstates the old ways.

I DARE anyone to say the Iraqi's were better off before, under Hussein.

And, after the war dies down, and people here in America go back to normalcy, there will be people who say that they are "non-violent." You don't want to get into fights. But, what that really means is, you don't want to pick on anybody.

Problem is, the bad guys don't always agree with you. You see, if you're against violence and some guy holds a gun to your head and asks you for your money, you better re-think your position. You better become VERY VIOLENT at that moment. Or, you're dead.

Being a Pacifist, is an ideal. I subscribe to it. I'm against violence. But, only CONCEPTUALLY, if you threaten my children, I wouldn't think twice about snapping your neck on the spot. I suspect most people would take my view.

You can tell by the length of this missive, that this issue has gotten under my skin. So, I'll try to recap my feelings, in brief. Get ready, 'cause here comes the truth:

America is the world's only hope for a bright future.

Yes. I mean that. Yes, I know you live in another country and your country is cool, too. But, America is the only Superpower. There are no others. And that means, the world is a better place. Because if Nazi Germany or Communist Russia were the only superpowers, we would all be either dead or forced to live under their regimes.

America is not interested in ruling your country. If you think it does, smoking crack may be your answer.

I wasn't born here. But, I have a love for this country and its people that knows no bounds. I will forever be grateful to America for going into World War II, when it had nothing to gain, in a country that was far away...and rescued my Mother from the Nazi German Concentration Camps.

She is alive and I am alive because of America.

And, if you have a problem with America, YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ME.

Well, well, well. Unlike the Dixie Chicks, Mr. Simmons has personal experience of the kind we rescued the Iraqi's from. He has his own website which has 1000's if not millions of visitors.

What do you have, and how is your opinion worth anything? It would also help, if you want to be taken seriously, to attempt to spell words correctly.

What "personal experience"? If I were famous or had my own website my words would have more gravity? My opinion is worth as much as anyone on FR's is. Which word or words did I spell incorrectly? I made a typo - "though(t)." I can tell you that the plural of Iraqi is Iraqis, not Iraqi's. You, and Gene, made that mistake.

Last year Simmons made mincemeat of that condescending NPR "fresh airhead" leftist Terry Gross.

Heard that one myself and it was hysterical. LOL! (All during the interview I pictured her subconsciously fantasizing about his tongue..... ROFLMAO!)

More Gene Simmons on 9 April 03:

Woke up this morning to the site of Saddam Hussein's head, torn from its metallic statue base, in downtown Baghdad, being ridden by Iraqi's!!! I saw Iraqi's running through the streets waving American flags.

I also watched with interest how the UN was insisting it had to play the major role in rebuilding Iraq.

And, of course, the French/Chirac led government and, I might add the German government (who only last week on CNN strongly urged that Hussein be removed -- without so much as lifting a finger to do anything about it), insisted that they be allowed to be involved in the rebuilding of Iraq.

In jail, bending over for the soap is not a good idea. In life, the words S**K MY B***S in response, might be appropriate in this instance.

Further, I would like to add my condolences to all the American and British and yes, the Iraqi families that lost loved ones in this struggle...while the American media (the New York Times, the Washington Post and other "respected" newspapers) routinely trounced the war effort.

My heart goes out to people who suffer. And, although "Might makes Right" does not necessarily follow, in this case it does. Better the good guys be Mighty, than the bad guys.

As for being a Liberal. I am!!! I believe in equality -- for everyone. I believe prejudice is the bane of mankind's existence.

The whole world would have become a Communist World, if American didn't stand up to Russia...don't kid yourself.

And, I believe if you don't have the guts to stand up to injustice, where ever it exists (and that means stopping the Germans, the Japanese and the Italians in WW I and WW II...or the Albanian Serbs in Bosnia...or the tragedies that keep on occurring in Africa...or even the Viet Nam War....Panama...North Korea...the list goes on and on)...

One thing in common with all these events: AMERICA.

America didn't stay and "conquer" ANY OF THESE COUNTRIES.

And, the UN??? It's a sham. It can't even decide what to do about UNANIMOUSLY VOTING THAT HUSSEIN be punished.

Me??? I'm ashamed to be surrounded by people calling themselves Liberal who are, in my opinion, spitting on the graves of brave American soldiers who gave their life to fight a war that wasn't theirs...in a country they've never been to...simply to liberate the people therein.

I haven't said very much politically, because talk is cheap (yours and mine). But the answer to any doubters lies in watching Iraq's people dancing in the streets.

Again, everyone who is marching today in a war protest, can line up to my left to s**k my b***s.

He calls himself a liberal; very interesting! Perhaps socially with the ladies but, apparently, not politically. Can one could be truly liberal and not hate the US? It would seem he thinks he's liberal because, as he says, "I believe in equality -- for everyone. I believe prejudice is the bane of mankind's existence." This, like conservatives DON'T believe in equality - ah, the liberal press pond scum have really sold the American public a load of dung on THAT issue, haven't they - LOL!!

What was a typical DU response to this well-reasoned letter?

Yes Egregious...your opinion is worth anyone elses but ..what I think UCANSEE2 was stating correctly was Simmons web site will be seen by thousands of "metal heads".. his influence could cause the "groupee" community to mark the ballot in the right place... the R column instead of the D column.

After the last two elections, that could be huge for the conservative movement... Don't you agree?

Right. And, boiling it down, American government is not benevolent. It can't be: it's not wealthy (only the king or dictator or what-have-you would 'own' everything). Our government's not supposed to own anything.

So, in order for government to give anything to anyone, it must first take it from someone else. Which is why the ignorant social 'program' mentality is a house of cards.

So --- this guy gets some things; he doesn't get others.

I don't read their drivel on DU...In fact this was my first time actually reading a posted article there... but I can imagine what the rocks rolling around in their heads caused them to reply.

I heard Gene on Hannity's radio show and he actually sounds quite conservative. Both he and Paul Stanley surprised me in their views.

Yeah.
Like Gene taking and saving photos of every one of the 4,600+ gals he's had sex with.
A real conservative that guy!

"Huge," Bob... HUGE!? It might be some help, but for the wrong reasons. Becoming a conservative because of one Gene Simmons' article makes about as much sense as becoming liberal because of Tim Robbins' public statements.

Simmon's article was so well thought out that it was completely correct in every respect. What did you read?

It is totally different than the moronic babble of the Ditsy Chicks.

This posted article was an illustration of the slow but sure trend toward conservative success in the voting booth... I could care less about the moral decadence of a semi talented rock star I wouldn't go across the street to see.

Liberals have a mental disease that prevents them from grasping the real meaning of an event or idea... Simmoms may be a degenerate but I'm only interested in the evolution of a Demonicrat's mind as an example of a trend.

All great change begin with small steps. Simmons is an example with a young following... small acorns grow into "HUGE" oak trees with enough nourishment (periodic rains)and time.

HOW EVIL, DESTRUCTIVE, COMMUNISTIC

her unroyal lowness,

Closer to the election, people start discounting what even close friends say on the other side. Guards go up increasingly the closer we get to the election.

Please, please, please,

make hay while the sun shines.

We can't afford to have Bwitch Shrillery anywhere close to the White House again.

And New Yorkers--PLEASE GET HER OUT OF THE SENATE!

If you ever considered yourself an old time liberal in the 60's, then most of the views you held then are considered conservative today. We believed in equal opportunity not quotas. We believed in free speech not speech codes. We believed in people doing there own thing not ramming the homosexual agenda down peoples throat. We believed and respected the Founding Fathers and didn't consider them dead white men. I can go on and on but you see the point.
