Please. This is California we are talking about. That SOB will die of old age before he ever gets around to being executed. If his attorney has any brains at all he'll be able to keep this case out of court for years to come, then they'll drag out the appeals etc. till doomsday. California has hundreds sitting on Death Row, and they croak about three a year, if that.

Remember "The Night Stalker" Richard Ramirez or something like that? The guy who broke into people's houses at night and raped and killed and mutilated people? He is still alive. Remember that guy who shot up a Silicon Valley company back in the late 80's? He is still alive too. Heck, the only reason Dan White is dead is because he got paroled and committed suicide. If he had not been paroled, but instead put on Death Row, he would probably be alive to this day.

Termination of Pregnancy? The criminal complaint by the DA states they believe during the murder of Lacy, Scott inflicted injury to cause the termination of her pregnancy. Anyone knows what the complaint is talking about?

If he deliberately murdered Lacie, he deliberately murdered her baby.

They are thinking hours, not days. To translate cop-speak, they mean some time in the hours between a certain time on the 23rd and a certain time on the 24th. They can't be more specific than that, because they can't fix the time of death more accurately.

The evidence (much by Scott's on admission) does appear to point to this. But there is no way that the coroner could pinpoint the time of death that precisely.

The language used is invoking the fetal death laws, which are different than regular murder (not like it should be, but it is). It presumes the mother did not want her baby killed, but the actions of the accused were the proximate cause of the death of the fetus. Does not mean he cut out the baby. This law would apply if an assault on the mother resulted in death of the unborn child too.

I think she talked with someone on the evening of the 23rd and no one saw her after that as far as I know. So death would be between that phone call and prior to him leaving for his fishing trip. Really, only a 12 hour timeframe.

The Modesto police should be ashamed. Why were they not in the Peterson household protecting Stacy. Are there not enough police in Modesto? There should be an investigation on the links of the Modesto police, and the Fishing Tackle & Boat Company - obviously there is link. Lacy's body, and all of the increased fishing caused by this ugly act. The people of Modesto are all victimes of the Modesto police's lack of forethought.

When dealing with date and time periods, "between" is inclusive -- meaning the start and end dates are included. This is not just copspeak. It's common jargon in all computer reports.
