Probable cause to arrest is much less than proof to convict. I expect a quick indictment. The trial will be another story... it could easily result in one or more hung juror.

Peterson made so many mistakes that we've seen

Agreed. He seems the poster child for arrogance.

Why would he place himself at the general scene of the crime?

He's a narcissist. He didn't think he'd get caught, since he weighted his wife's body down to keep it in the water.

He didn't know that currents would tear the body apart and the torso would float to the top.

.... have a receipt of the dock and tell the police exactly where he went fishing — and the body would be there! That does not make sense. It's too damn inconvenient for that.

Obviously he didn't think they would ever surface.

I hope the cops did not botch this investigation, since SP seems to be guilty as sin.

The police had his phone tapped and a tracker in his car.
In order to get the court order for them they had to have probable cause.
They took over 50 bags of evidence out of his house when they searched.
He had refused to let them search without a warrant.

My guess is they had plenty of evidence and have just been waiting in hopes the body would show up to prove death.
They got a bonus when it showed up in the middle of his alibi.

How do you figure? Lots of folks thought that about David Westerfield (hell, we had a whole flock of groupies on this forum who were beating the hell out of the rest of us who even dared say he was guilty), but the jury gave him death.

The body floating up in the same marina where Peterson said he went fishing is the most colossal bungle I've ever seen.

He practically told the cops where to look.

The dumbass didn't know that Laci and Connor would come rising out of the grave.

They both worked hard to get everything they had, and they were enjoying it to the hilt. And they adored each other.

If they adored each other so much, why was he having an affair with a massage therapist? Sounds like his parents have a blind spot when it comes to their 'darling son'.

I think in the interest of justice for Laci, a prohibition against *any* more Peterson news should be banned from the
internet, newspapers, magazines, and newscasts.

It's not just that I, for one, am sick and tired of being constantly bombarded with the whole sad affair. But I do
not want to taint the jury pool is all.

Really.

Cross my heart and hope to die.

Other bodies have turned up in the area. It's not as if this is a new phenomenon. And had anyone the mind to do a dive search for a body, it would be easy: look around where he said he went fishing.

Of pregnant women? I don't think so.

Just caught them on MSNBC, as you predicted!

Now, Time mag. is part of the CNN gang, isn't it? Because this interview was about as one-sided as CNN's Saddam reporting. Time reporter apparantly feared to ask pertenint questions, such as about Amber, his hair, his brother's ID, $10K, etc., or they would not get the "big interview" with the parents. I realize they are not the ones on trial, but if they are going to accuse LE of railroading their son, they better be prepared to back up all their claims-or just shut up.

Seems like there was a pic of one of his brothers (he's got 4 brothers, I think) and a sister taken early on, at the search site they had set up; no idea if it would have been the one that gave(?)him the ID. Can't recall if they looked much alike or not.

Motive, means and opportunity....it's either Scott Peterson or the Mystery Murderer.

"Why would Scott talk about going to the water at all, had he taken Laci's body out there in a tarp and dumped it? There were no witnesses. Why would he place himself at the general scene of the crime?"

Scott probably thought that people would never suspect he actually disposed of the body at the same area he said he was fishing. OR he could go on to plan B and say he was "framed"..

Looks like he found someone who didn't disappoint him :~)

Have you seen the galoot? He's a big boy. He likely strangled her and hauled her out to the marina. This boy's gonna have a very hard time in general population

Yes, he is a big guy, but I'm not sure he will have a tough time in general population. A lot of cons beat their women around (and therefore would 'understand' if an 'ordinary' beating just went a little overboard) and he is, after all, "a big guy." It's the little guys who have a tough time.

Rita Cosby just now saying that he's been very uncooperative with police, even belligerent.

"I want you to listen to me. I did not kill that woman, Laci Peterson..."

This guy is a classic narcissist, and a very ignorant one at that. He really believes he's bullet-proof.
