Rita Cosby just now saying that he's been very uncooperative with police, even belligerent.
"I want you to listen to me. I did not kill that woman, Laci Peterson..."
This guy is a classic narcissist, and a very ignorant one at that. He really believes he's bullet-proof.
That he does...and everything Mom says is being filtered through the prism of Scott Peterson. She has a ready excuse for every question, she's able to evade tough questions, but yet there are gaps in the story so big one could drive a Mack truck through them.
While I believe he is probably guilty, he is not dumb. He knows (and should) that being 'cooperative' with the police is certainly not going to help him. He may or may not believe himself 'bullet-proof', but he is certainly well-advised not to 'cooperate' with the police.
As an aside, as an old prosecutor, I was shocked when I first got into prosecution by the attitude of the cops toward the perp. They 'closed' their case with an arrest, not with a conviction. [Their files are literally marked "closed by arrest".]
They also routinely formulate an early theory and then work feverishly to prove the theory. The vast majority of cops, while well-intentioned, are extremely conventional thinkers. They know the stats support the husband as the responsible party in the killing of a wife and so they start (and finish) there unless the husband has a truly bullet-proof alibi.
None of this proves that SP did or didn't kill his wife, but it certainly tells me that a husband should not concentrate on being 'helpful' or 'cooperative' to the cops no matter how innocent he is.
