The head of the National Organization for Women's Morris County chapter is opposing a double-murder charge in the Laci Peterson case, saying it could provide ammunition to the pro-life lobby.
"If this is murder, well, then any time a late-term fetus is aborted, they could call it murder," Morris County NOW President Mavra Stark said on Saturday.

Thank God NOW doesn't speak for me! I guess they want it both ways.... protection for the murderers, and the right to kill those without a voice.
I'm going to quit now, 'cause I don't want to be banned!

NOW this. They say string him up but not on the baby's account. God made it as plain as he could, by delivering that baby to the shore ahead of his mother, that he wants that baby spoken for.Umm using your logic, what did God want by having Laci killed in the first place? Does it matter if the baby was delivered to shore before or after his mother, your statement seems to indicate it does.
Don't get me wrong I think NOW is out of their mind and really shot themselves in the foot on this one, but I can't understand your logic either.

I know many people here won't want to consider this, but I believe the concept of fetal homicide is effective only when it considers the intent of the mother. Interesting. I was thinking along similar lines.
Even with the laws as they exist, how can they be applied to protect Scott without Laci invoking her "right to privacy" about the incident?
Laci's body, Scott's choice?
Does NOW advocate not only abortion, but forced, involuntary abortion?
I think there are probably some men's rights groups that would be interested to know that.

With comments like this, so eloquently making the Pro-Life case, I don't think old Marva will be chapter Pressident for long.

(from the article)
Stark said that despite her opposition to the double-murder charge, she is not sympathetic to Scott Peterson. Neither is she in the least sympathetic to Connor, his baby. The inhumanity of NOW has no limits. Their hatred of men, their hatred of unborn children, and their hatred of all women who don't think like them is an indication of the depth of their depravity, as is their deliberate misleading of society, especially women, on the subject of abortion over the last 4 decades.

Defense scenario.
My guess is that Peterson's lawyer will begin evaluating the circumstancial evidence against his client and if it starts to look bad for Peterson then I believe that Peterson will come up with a story that he and his wife had an argument and that she jumped overboard committing suicide. Peterson will say that he had so much guilt over that happening that he was fearfull that he would be suspected of causing her death so he figured that it would be best to just keep it to himself and go along with the theory that his wife was just a missing person.

"Scott Peterson had been keeping a low profile since Monday, when Laci Peterson's headless body washed ashore from the San Francisco Bay. A day earlier, a dog walker found the remains of a fetus within a mile of where the other corpse was discovered."
His actions speaks volumes.

They can try to play the death of an innocent baby down, but it won't work for Scott.
No matter how Connor is "classified" WE know he was a baby, capable of living outside his Mother's womb at the time of his death.
WE KNOW... They can only execute Scott once, which is enough to send him to hell.

You nailed it!!
I was wondering... these "fetus laws" really came about
because of MADD mothers against drunk drivers--drunks
killing women with child. Are the Now crowd going to attack
the Madd crowd?

Fetal homicide laws have been opposed by some pro-choice organizations that fear they will undermine a woman's right to choose an abortion, even though the statues exempt legal abortions. Gee...ya think Laci Peterson was given a choice at the time she and her baby were murdered?

IOW if Laci didn't want that poor baby, than the baby's life and death was irrelevant. I disagree. As Senator Robert Dole told a gathering of the Catholic Press Association, "I am pro-life. I am opposed to abortion on demand. But I understand that reasonable and decent people can disagree on certain points."
I'm saying that you stalwart pro-life people could save more unborn lives if you would respect the fact that resonable people disagree that it's not a matter of choice.
If the pro-life movement could agree to disagree, and accept a push for murder charges for the baby boy's death -- but under the condition that Laci's baby was wanted by Laci, NOW would not be able to say anything to oppose that position. On the other hand, I'm not a lawyer, and not knowing what the options are, I would fear any legal maneuvering on the part of the prosecuting attorney that would jeapardize the case against Scott if he's guilty of killing Laci.
Through an unwillingness to compromise, much of the intent of the pro-life's movement is lost.

They call it a "woman's right to do what she will with her own body". Not in 49 states. Only Nevada has legal prostitution.
The fact is we don't have any "right" to do what we want with our bodies. That "privacy" BS is just that, BS. There are all kinds of laws telling what we can and can't do to and with our bodies. E.g., just try to bury a deceased loved one in your back yard.
Damn, this whole thing is disgusting. Women in favor of murder if it is done in the womb. Disgusting. Hell was made for such people as these.

It's murder under California law if the fetus is old enough to survive outside the womb on it's own...8 mos. qualifies.

Evil in Our Time
Abortion is the practice of killing the weakest and most defenseless among us. Yet, tragically, it has been ingrained in our culture. Since the Supreme Court handed down the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973, some 40 million abortions have been committed in this nation. i This is almost a third of the number of live babies born during the same time. ii If you go to a high school graduation ceremony this year, consider that one third of the graduating class is missing. They were deprived of the right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness written about by our founding Fathers in the Declaration of Independence. We are shocked when we read about the human sacrifices of ancient cultures. Yet, our unborn children are routinely sacrificed on the twin altars of feminist ideology and convenience. We are shocked by the horrors of the German holocaust where six million Jews lost their lives. Yet in our own American holocaust, over six times that number of innocent babies have been killed. Why has this happened in our enlightened time? What can we do to stop this evil?
...continued Evil in Our Time

This could be interesting. I suspect Scott aborted the baby, and Laci died as a result. That begs the questions, if you attempt to abort a fetus yourself, is it illegal? Is it murder? Yes, it would be interesting if some sharpie shyster tried to invoke this defense in the case -- then to watch how the NOW gang would squirm...

I was listening yesterday morning to WTAM 1100 Cleveland, Oh, and talk show host took a call from the lady and this lady said since partial birth abortion is legal, that Scott Peterson should be only charged with one murder.
I was dumbfounded by the caller's stupidity.

Does NOW advocate not only abortion, but forced, involuntary abortion? It would appear the implied answer is yes. Again, a polarized, viscious position taken on a politicized issue which should be handled with much more humanity by both sides.
We can save babies with a spirit of commitment to compromise, but without that, extremism on both sides will lead to the future deaths of many, many more children.

I phrased it wrong, "I take these events to mean..."should have preceeded my comments. The baby is a seperate entity than the mother and that was made plain by the physical seperation and the seperation in time of the discovery of the bodies. It was clearly a double murder. I can't speak for God. It was the symbolism I attempted to tap, but I'm not going to argue it.
