Scott Peterson: Posterboy for Pro-Choice !
Am I the only one that truly hopes this becomes an issue on every talk show in America?
Don't get me wrong, I am mortified by what Scott Peterson allegedly did. But if we can reframe this debate into a debate about how irrational NOW is, Pro-life wins.
I don't mean to "highjack" a cause, but can you imagine the national debate?
It would prove to the Americans "on the fence" about the abortion debate just how flawed the pro-choice agenda is.
I personally am not a militant pro-choice voter. I would never vote against a rational pro-choice candidate if I agreed with everything else he stood for, and if he voted against the truly barbaric things like Partial-birth abortion.
I personally find abortion abhorent, but I also see that reasonable people can disagree, I also feel that as time goes on and technology grows (ultrasounds, fetal doppler heart tones measuring life at 6weeks gestation, and pregnancy tests showing positive within days of conception) I think that the American views are turning, I also see this extreme case will show the average American how wrong the militant pro choice feminists (NOW, NAARL, Planned Parenthood) are.
Just as we know that the pro-choice side uses every extreme Pro-life case against us (abortion clinic bombings, etc.), I say we use this to further our cause. I also see this as furthering causes such as Judicial Nominees. Can you imagine how impotent their arguments will be against pro-choice Judges if they see the alternative as something as stupid as NOW's position that you can't charge Scott Peterson with a double homicide because the "fetus" wasn't born at the time of the murder.
Does anyone doubt that Petersons attorneys will use this as an argument against the death penalty if it gets that far?
To: lewislynn
It's murder under California law if the fetus is old enough to survive outside the womb on it's own...8 mos. qualifies Tell that to Barbara Boxer. . .she thinks it's a woman right to 'abort' her baby until she steps out of the room/hospital. . .regardless of whether the baby had been born or not. This is an argument she got backed into a few years ago when the Senate was arguing the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban that Clinton vetoed!

When I read the introduction, I expected this article to be a satire from The Onion or some similar magazine. To think that these NOW hags would oppose charging Peterson with two murders is ridiculous beyond belief. Of course, in the modern feminist world, being ridiculous is the coin of the realm. Sadly, I doubt that the national media will show how stupid these people are.

"If they can somehow prove this baby was developed enough to live on it's own (don't know if that's possible), wouldn't that help?"
My son was born 2 months early and lived. It is possible.

There was a case in Florida about 15 years ago, in which a drunk driver hit a woman, killing her 9-month-old fetus. He was charged with murder, but a federal court threw out the conviction. I knew some sidewalk counselors at the time, who reported that the Deathscorts were chanting the following Saturday morning: "We won in Florida! We won in Florida!" So the "right of privacy," found in the emanations and penumbras of the 9th, 10th, and 14th Ameindments, includes the right of drunk drivers to kill babies!

To convict Peterson of murdering his unborn son, prosecutors would have to prove either that he intended to kill the fetus or knew that it would die as a result of Laci Peterson's death. DUH and double DUH. He thought the child would survive murder of its mother?

I figured this was going to come into play. Yesterday, while doing a search, I came upon a site that spoke of the case. On the right hand side was a poll about whether calling Laci's death a double homicide because of the fetus was a means to try and prevent state allowed abortions. (paraphrased)
The four choices were:
1) yes (and I'm pro-life)
2) No (and I'm pro life
3) yes (and I'm pro choice) and
4) No (and I'm pro choice)
I am pro life, BUT I didn't want the numbers of the poll to reflect lifers hitting it, so I voted NO (and I'm pro choice)
If I can relocate the poll, I'll give a link to it for those interested.

Pathetic is too kind a word. Scott killed two people, period. That baby boy would have been viable outside the womb and those bitches at NOW know it. At 8 months gestation, that baby boy would have been viable outside the womb waaaay before the time of his death.
Ben was born on the 25th week of gestation, 15 weeks early. He was 1 lb 5 oz (595g) & 12 1/2 inches at birth. Ben is now 5 years old......
Liberals use the word "Fetus", just like the Nazis used the word "Untermenchen", to mean a human being that you may kill with complete impunity.
At 26 weeks gestation, Ben was an "infant" and a citizen of the United States with all the Constitutional rights of U.S. citizenship.
NOW claims that, at 34 to 36 weeks gestation, the Peterson "fetus" was merely tissue, analogous to a uterine fibroid, that could be killed without legal consequences.
We ask ourselves how the Nazi society of the late 1930's and early 1940's could decree that some humans were "less than human" and kill them without any feelings of guilt or remorse. Well, they did it with self delusion and word games such as the kind that NOW uses today in our own society.

A single murder doesn't carry the death penalty in California.
I think you have been giving too much credence to tv news...special circumstances may include intentional killing for financial gain..and other reasons than multiple killing...Calif penal code 190.2

At a time like this you wonder if a person should step back for a moment and reflect upon the current activity that they are defending in order to support their cause. Maybe some would consider that they have gone to an extreme to maintain support of such an activity. Maybe some would question if that activity may not be worth supporting. Im sure that in some small way you could defend Hitler, such as he built the autobahns. But to miss the big picture concerning Hitler regarding his damage to mankind must be considered denial. If you are in denial concerning support of an activity, I suggest its time to examine very closely that activity which you support.
Many would call such denial as cant see the forest for the trees. That concept seems to apply very well to those on the Left.

I've been waiting for NOW to surface with this complaint ever since the MPD reclassified this case as a double homicide. I knew it i knew it i knew it. NOW would rather have this guy go free than--God forbid--give support to the "pro life lobby". Yes, they must be terribly worried that if you call the death of 8mo old Connor a 'murder', then the abortion of any 8mo old fetus would also be a 'murder'. PRECISELY. It IS murder. Nothing like rcognizing the Emperor is naked.
Their position is analogous to all those liberals who preferred the Iraq war to go poorly (with its resultant US troops deaths) rather than go well for Bush. They'd rather this guy go free than things go well for the pro-life lobby. These people are so sickening and an abomination to life.
To: river rat
Uh does that mean anytime one copulates a pregnancy results(and an abortion)? What if either party is sterile? What about just thinking about copulation, is that a conspiracy to commit murder?

She needs to shut her ugly, non-caring..TRAP. How nice of her to further attack the family and telling the family that the baby doesn't count.

I personally find abortion abhorent, but I also see that reasonable people can disagree.
Actually, I cannot see that reasonable people can disagree, assuming that one believes murder is wrong. If murder is defined as the unjustifiable killing of a Homo sapiens then abortion is undeniably murder.
And that's why I cannot vote for a pro-abortion candidate. If said candidate is unable to discern this clear moral issue, then he is not qualified, nor is he fit, to craft legislation. The candidate lacks the ability to discern good from evil or right from wrong. It would be the height of foolishness to put this person in the role of deciding governmental affairs.
