"- the sight of armed federalis rolling down the road in plain brown wrapped Caprices would have resulted in a radio call to Howell and the beginning of 'siege' right then and there ..."

Of course, this is just your speculation....the Feds didn't even TRY to arrest him outside of the compound, so we'll never know, will we? It's inexcusable to put the lives of women and kids at risk merely to have an excuse to break out the ninja gear and play. The Feds are to blame for the deaths of every one of those kids and every one of those women.

The answer to your question is a resounding "yes" Mr. Coulson. Yes, I would rather see a federal agent with his head blown off than riding around in a tank.

Another statement, heavily pregnant with threat.

Dick Rogers, who developed rules of engagement at Ruby Ridge, Idaho

Rules of Engagement were very simple in both cases. Extermination is to occur if the target breathes. And level the property.

I just skimmed the article, but what is the arrest warrant for? I would like to know - it seems I have read about it, but have forgotten what his transgression was. Do you know?

That was so EASY to throw wasn't it?

Like a recklessly tossed Molotov cocktail 'into the fray' ...

Of course, this is just your speculation.

Which part - PROTECT the leader ('Koresh') at all cost?

Vernon Wayne Howell had ALL that worked out ... he'd been in cuffs in the back of a squad car before and spent time in jail - he was NOT going back. Period.

The Gov't did not do its job. At no point did the Sheriff WALK UP TO THE DOOR AND KNOCK ON IT! If he was AFRAID to do this he should find a new job. When Gov't resorts to full combat gear to do a search FIRST then Gov't ought to expect to be fired upon. I respect cops and Sheriffs because of the shoulder patch they wear NOT because they carry guns. That patch represents a community. Guns merely represent the holder. If I see a sheriff coming at me I'm gonna think "uh oh", what'd I do?! If I see guys in combat gear I'm gonna think "praise the Lord and pass the ammo- let me see how many of these SOB's I can Kill"! The Waco thing was BUNGLED by the "professionals" involved.

I have no idea, I haven't read about this odd situation. It could be trumped up nonsense or maybe the guy's a loon.

I've got to respect the Sheriffs patience though.

That lesson is not lost on Sheriff Brownlowe, still patiently awaiting Mr. Gray's surrender. The former member of an anti-government militia is wanted on felony charges after biting a state trooper and trying to grab his gun during a traffic stop. He now faces weapons charges, too.

Oh sweet Jesus.

Three years? Waste of damn time and money. Time for Darwin's broom to sweep that goofy little compound, and to find a sheriff with a pair. You can't enable armed standoffs, because they spread like cancer among the goofy,

WHAT IF - the non-compliance to a) paying county property tax, b) obeying burn-bans, safety and health regulations c) obeying duly-constituted law enforcement overall became rampant in a few counties?

Why - we could begin to approach a state-of-life approaching that of say, fuedal, war-lord controlling Afghanistan!

WHICH aspect - there are several stages (the initial raid, the standoff, the 'negotiations', the insertion of tear gas) and several different 'groups' responsible at each 'stage' to discuss ...

You sound about as convincing as Matt Hale in your efforts to convince the mentally unsound to go out and harm federal officers.

Definitely sounds like he has a FReeper handle.
