You said,
"How did it not change anything for you?"
You came right out of the gate asserting that the AW ban had no effect. This was intellectually dishonest on your part, as you knew damn well that it had affected you.
How did you expect us to take your post?
As far as the assertion that you're "very radical when it comes to [your] guns," BULLPUCKEY. A radical would hardly be arguing for the AW ban.
As for obeying the law, I sure hope you don't get pulled carrying one of your illegal rifle/magazine combinations in the trunk of your car to go do some shooting. If arrested and charged with Federal firearms violations, will you still be arguing in favor of electing spineless gungrabbing Republicans solely because of their political party?

Over a decade of EMS.
I can eat a double cheese burger, drive an Ambulance with lights and sirens on going 80 mph down a one way street while calling the hospital relaying the patient's stats my partner to shouting to me from the back ALL AT THE SAME TIME!
Never an accident.
But oh! Through a cell-phone in there and CARNAGE!!??

1) To make my points on how NO MATTER WHAT laws are dreamed up, or created it doesn't and won't stop freedom loving people. The authorities DO NOT PLAY. If you are so cavelier about breaking laws, then someday soon you will not be.
A lot of people are paying Waaaay more than they need to for high cap mags.
I assume you mean me. Please, allow me to place an order with you. I want 10 Glock model 22 magazines, the preban hi-cap drop-free version, for $29 each. I will be sending you the certified check as soon as you secure these items at these prices and give me an address.
Thanks in advance for allowing me to utilize your incredible bargaining ability. T

Ever talk to a french fry? They can grab your attention.
To the 'invincibles' I'd ask if they thought there was a danger of talking on a cell and driving. If the answer is,"You have to know what you're doing", I'd recommend a cell phone-driving class be instituted. Too many folks have been killed, (myself more than a few times nearly) by some person chatting on the phone when they should've been watching the traffic. Go for the handless cell phone instead-That's all I'm saying.

I'll tell you how it affected
me! \a friend/ This "friend" of mine ordered a few pre-ban magazines for his Beretta 92. Everything went fine until this "friend" came home to find that his package had arrived and that this "friend" was now committing a felony worth 5 or 10 years in Club Fed!!! Think about it, this is legal equivalent of possessing a quarter kilo of Colombian nose candy! All this from what is otherwise a completely unregulated item except for an almost illegibly small date and serial number. After some desperate snips with some sheet metal shears and I quick trip to town to find a secluded dumpster, I finally understood the real intent of this stupid law.
I won't tell you how many post-ban rifles in pre-ban configuration I have handled at gun shows before checking their serial numbers in my PDA to find they are equivalent to unregistered machine guns just because someone attached a $25 plastic 'pistol grip" stock. This law has to go. If the Republicans can't let it expire after being given control of all three branches of government, I just might start looking for a new party that can.

I like "I love my country, but I fear my government."
Klinton hijacked it into "I love my country, but I hate my government," of course, to demonize anyone who thought the power of the federal government should be limited to those enumerated in the Constitution.

"...over a law that doesn't affect our rights" The above phrase is almost, if not an oxymoron.
"...the right to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED." The assault weapon ban does affect our rights.
The defninition of "infringement" is "To transgress or exceed the limits of; violate; to defeat; invalidate."
Thus, by defintion, any gun control law is uncontitutional.
Rights are absolute, contrary to socialist judges pronouncements to the contrary by Ms. Sandra O'Connor.
Rights are not negotiable with the rest of the citizens as to need.
The assault weapon ban is a violation of our inalienable right to "keep and bear arms" and thus is very harmful.

Go on, find the post where I defend this weapons ban, post the number.I am still waiting for you to agree to sell me the 10 Glock Model 22 magazines, preban hi-caps (drop free) for $29 each, because as you stated, we are all paying too much for hicaps. I am eager to get them at the pre-ban prices, since, as you imply, the AWBan has not really effected anything.

You have been able to buy those weapons, and magazines because there were already a large supply in the country. Maybe you haven't noticed but as the supply diminishes the price increases, AK mags that were $5.00 are now $15.00 drums have more than tripled in price, a Russian SKS that sold for under $100.00 before the ban will now cost over $200.00. Prices will continue to increase, the availability will continue to decrease. As with any infringement on our rights the next generations will feel the effects of it more than we will.

Being more of a 'classic' weapons kind of guy, most of the guns I own are older than I am ... British .303, Springfield .30-06, Remington 11-48, Winchester .44 lever action, etc. Classic stuff ... good hearty stocks that whole trees were sacrificed for.
Got an SKS back in the late '80s/early '90s that came with the bayonet, and subsequently underwent the usual SKS tricks ... folding stock, flash sup, 30 rnd mag, etc. All the add-on gook has since been removed because I didn't want to have to worry about the possibility that some combination of elements could render the gun illegal ... I really have tried to understand the convoluted aspects of the law, and comply. But the wording and the logic is so non-understandable, it was easier to trash the cosmetics and stick with what was surely in compliance.
Same gun, same ballsitics. Less plastic. Breaking a federal gun law because of some plastic gun parts was something that I would not chance. So back to the natural wood tones and away from the evil black plastic.
And now the world is a safer place.
The AWB is a stupid law put in place by the bottom-of-the-barrel gun-grabbing legislators to 'feel good for the chilren'. The camel got his whole head under the tent with this one, and it should die in '04. If AWB reauthorization even reached Bush's desk, the republicans have failed to understand one of the fundamental reasons they are in power.

Believe it or not, I'm looking!I believe you are. I believe you are just that uninformed. Why else would you have posted the original article?
I don't own a Glock, didn't know the mags are so pricey.
Ditto for HiPowers. Ditto for Berettas. Ditto for any number of popular semiauto pistols.
Dd you get that gun on purpose just to prove your point?
That's silly.
Yes, of course. I read your article, did several hours of research, went out and purchased several Glocks, just to be right.
No, Occhams Razor suggests that there is no conspiracy, but instead that you are grossly mistaken in your thesis that the AWBan has not effected many people directly and severely.
I'll keep looking....
You do that. I can tell you in advance you will not succeed.
And -- if you DO happen to find a small pocket of cheap Glock hicaps -- I *WILL* definitely pick them up at the price of $29 each. I would *LOVE* to triple my money.
Let's face it: Your thesis is incorrect. The AWBan does effect people directly and severely.

Please redact the gentle sarcasm I was posting with in my former post. I geniunely hope this corrects your impression to such an extent that you will vigorously campaign against the renewel of the AWBan in 2004.

I thought you had time to go out and buy a gun with expensive mags and be back in time to post in the 150's.

If he finds them at those prices, they will definitely be LEO only mags, and that could get him a felony conviction. But that is the whole point of your request, which I think he is beginning to understand.
