2 U.S. Soldiers Killed By North Koreans in DMZ
Posted on 04/19/2003 1:18:18 AM PDT by abraxas_sandiego
My girlfriend's cousin, a member of the US Army, was shot and killed by a North Korean sniper in the DMZ this week, as was his commanding officer. This has not been reported in the media as far as I've seen.

Hmmmmmm. Not the first time this has happened, but under the present circumstances, this is
a lot more significant than it appears at first glance.
It is the equivalent of Saddam's "Oh yeah?" and his flipping us the bird when we asked him politely (and had the UN do likewise) to please not play with WMDs and to stop supporting, financing and rewarding terrorists.
When did it happen?
"This last week" is not terribly useful.
Before or after the Chinese had a change of heart about participating in talks?

. . . this is a lot more significant than it appears at first glance. Exactly. Even worse if the story is being kept 'under wraps.'
Shades of the tree-cutting incident in the 70's.

Shades of the tree-cutting incident in the 70's. I don't think anything was ever done about that incident, and unfortunately, I don't think anything will be done about this one either. I wish I could be more optimistic, but I can't.

This would need verification. Maybe a local newspaper's obituary or human interest story would have something in print, even if, as you say, it's under wraps.

What, are they crazy?
Oh, yeah. They are. Get the bastards who done this, and string 'em up.

Donald Rumsfeld recently warned that the US could fight two wars simultaneously, one in Korea and another in Iraq, and still win. These remarks not only exacerbated tensions with North Korea, but also angered South Koreans who, according to recent polls, now fear George Bush more than they do a nuke-wielding North Korea.
This article was a waist of time to read. The author doesnt even back up this crazy statements.

Hmm. This is no accident or a case of a N. Korean soldier getting nervous and shooting--they are too disciplined for that. This is a provocation ordered from the top. Is this Kim's way of saying, "Hey America, now that the war in Iraq is over, pay attention to me!" I hope Kim gets "attention" in a way he does not expect. A crazy man with nukes is bad for the neighborhood...
