Bill Clinton’s Army and Victory over Iraq

Saddam Hussein’s regime has fallen. Resistance in Iraq is sporadic. Those fighting against the winds of change are terrorists, foreign national heeding the Iraqi regime’s call for martyrdom, and regime loyalists who will most likely be held responsible for crimes against humanity.

This is a victory for all Americans, not just Republicans but Democrats as well. We have protected ourselves and others against a terrorist whose only limitation was his twisted imagination. We should hold our heads up high, waive Old Glory, and contemplate what could have happened if we would have left Saddam in power.

Now with the reconstruction on the horizon and President Bush winning one of the biggest political wagers ever seen, everyone who was once against this war is now aggressively waging damage control. Russia, Germany, France and the United Nations want some of the spoils of war.

Meanwhile, Syria has some explaining to do in regards to arming and hiding Iraqi officials associated with the ousted regime. Democrats and liberals on the other hand are putting some serious mustard on their spin control; something the New York Mets’ pitching staff needs desperately.

But the most amazing turnaround is that the Democrats in recent days have laid the audacious claim that Bill Clinton’s Army won this war. That’s right – you read the previous sentence correctly: They say it was President Clinton, and not his successor, who won this war for us and the Iraqi people. House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., stated last week that victory in Iraq was accomplished in large part to Clinton (“Pelosi stands by vote against Iraq war”). Syndicated columnist Matthew Miller expressed the same views. They are saying Iraq was liberated with Clinton’s military.

Granted, our military wasn’t built in the two years since the 9/11 terrorist attacks, but on the other hand, it is in the process of being rebuilt since Clinton gutted them during his eight years in office.

What neither Clinton nor his ideological supporters can finesse is that during 1993-2000, the Clinton-Gore administration slashed over $20 billion from the Pentagon budget each year. See my DefenseWatch article on March 12, 2003, (“The Korean Crisis: Don’t give in to Kim Jong Gotti”). Almost every military person I know severely loathed Bill Clinton as commander-in-chief.

By cutting the size of the U.S. armed forces by nearly 40 percent, Clinton put our men and women in harm’s way with a serious decline in the number of major platforms and weapons systems entering the force as the Reagan-era infrastructure reached the end of service life. Controlling defense spending can be a necessary thing, but in Clinton’s case if budget cuts are too deep the effects will cause your organization harm.

Throughout the 1990s, as the U.S. military thinned its ranks, the services lost too many experienced men and women who know what it takes to win wars. The U.S. intelligence community eliminated human intelligence in favor of technical intelligence-gathering systems because the politicians did not want to deal with unsavory characters.

For the Democrats to claim they won the war against Iraq is one of the most hypocritical demonstrations we have seen in recent history. First, for Democrats to staunchly oppose the war by fighting tooth and nail against the Bush administration, and then to take the hawkish position and say Clinton’s defense program was in fact the reason the U.S. military won this war is almost unbelievable.

There are a number of Democrats who fall outside the ideological, anti-war lockstep of the party, including Sens. Joseph Biden and Joseph Liberman. But for Pelosi and other party leaders to say – in the face of their confirmed opposition to military action – that they merit credit for our victory, is ridiculous and disgusting.

Pelosi stated she was standing by her vote against this war – a war that has rid the world of a regime whose standard operating procedures resembled that of Nazi Germany or Stalin’s Soviet Union. The Iraqi regime imprisoned young men and boys for not joining their version of the Hitler Youth. They gassed the Kurds solely because they were Kurds. Yet Nancy Pelosi stated she stands with her vote but it was the Democrats who won the war.

The victory in Iraq is America’s victory – in spite of Bill Clinton’s attempts to gut the Defense Department of its military capabilities, and in spite of the attempts of Democratic Party leaders such as Nancy Pelosi to twist the facts into their own version of Stalin’s “Big Lie.”

For the man that "loathed the military" to lay any claim to any of the success is the sheerest form of balderdash.

Thank God for George Bush and his dream team.

The other Big Lie is that Clinton deserved credit despite the fact that he never would have had the balls to use the power at his disposal. This took place DESPITE Clinton's attempt to emasculate the services.

Thanks for posting this. I've been hearing the Libs on KGO radio (San Francisco) saying Clinton's army did the job. Obviously parroting Dem talking points for the day. I needed some info to counter. Thanks again.

Unfortunately, there are too many idiots like my mother-in-law who will never hear or believe the truth. They listen only to what the Democrat party tells them.

Well, if Clinton wants to take credit for the current military, then it is only proper that he takes credit for the current economy as well!

BILL CLINTON's Service Record before becoming Commander in Chief:

Bill Clinton registers for the draft on September 08, 1964, accepting all contractual conditions of registering for the draft. Given Selective Service Number 3 26 46 228.

Bill Clinton classified 2-S on November 17, 1964.

Bill Clinton reclassified 1-A on March 20, 1968.

Bill Clinton ordered to report for induction on July 28, 1969.

Bill Clinton dishonors order to report and is not inducted into the military.

Bill Clinton reclassified 1-D after enlisting in the United States Army Reserves on August 07,1969 under authority of Col. E. Holmes. Clinton signs enlistment papers and takes oath of enlistment.

Bill Clinton fails to report to his duty station at the University of Arkansas ROTC, September 1969.

Bill Clinton reclassified 1-A on October 30, 1969, as enlistment with Army Reserves is revoked by Colonel E. Holmes and Clinton now AWOL and subject to arrest under Public Law 90-40 (2)(a) 'registrant who has failed to report...remain liable for induction'.

Bill Clinton's birth date lottery number is 311, drawn December 1,1969, but anyone who has already been ordered to report for induction is INELIGIBLE!

Bill Clinton runs for Congress (1974), while a fugitive from justice under Public Law 90-40.

Bill Clinton runs for Arkansas Attorney General (1976), while a fugitive from justice.

Bill Clinton receives pardon on January 21, 1977, from Carter. Bill Clinton FIRST PARDONED FEDERAL FELON ever to serve as President.

All these facts come from Freedom of Information requests, public laws, and various books that have been published, and have not been refuted by Clinton.

After the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, which killed six and injured 1,000; President Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.

After the 1995 bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed five U.S. military personnel; Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.

After the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed 19 and injured 200 U.S. military personnel, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.

After the 1998 bombing of U.S. embassies in Africa, which killed 224 and injured 5,000, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.

After the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole, which killed 17 and injured 39 U.S. sailors, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.

Maybe if Clinton had kept those promises, an estimated 3,000 people in New York and Washington,D.C. that are now dead, would be alive today.

AN INTERESTING QUESTION: This question was raised on a Philly radio call-in show. Without casting stones, it is a legitimate question. There are two men, both extremely wealthy. One develops relatively cheap software and gives billions of dollars to charity.

The other sponsors terrorism.

That being the case, why was it that the Clinton Administration spent more money chasing down Bill Gates over the eight years in office, than Osama bin Laden?

THINK ABOUT IT!

It is a strange turn of events. Hillary gets $8 Million for her forthcoming memoir. Bill gets about $12 Million for his memoir yet to be written.

This from two people who spent 8 years being unable to recall anything about past events while under oath!

P.S. We don't want this woman to even THINK of running for President.
