I know. For all his cleverness, did he actually think that an insurance company would fork out $250k without a body and under the suspicion of foul play!?? I mean, insurance companies are loathe to pay out for LEGITIMATE claims (LOL) let alone something as suspicious as this.

Motive? No one seems to be offering any ideas on that. My personal theory is that wife/baby did not fit in with his pretty-boy lifestyle and would be a noose around his neck. And if he simply divorced her, he'd have to shell out for spousal support and child support for a looong time.

Maybe he figured his choices were:
1) kill her and collect $250k, or
2) divorce her and pay out hundreds of thousands of dollars

Only my opinion, of course. haven't heard anything about it in the press or on TV news shows.

I think Laci found out about his affair (remember, this guy isn't too smart) and threatened a divorce. He probably gets angry in huge bursts and killed her. Then, obviously watching way too many movies, thought he could make the body disappear.

This is my concern...if they can't show motive in capital one case beyond a reasonable doubt, how will he ever be convicted of the crime? Your theory is much like mine....he simply wanted to be free--maybe free to marry Amber. But the insurance won't be a motive, if he didn't think the body would ever surface when he weighted her down.
