Motive? No one seems to be offering any ideas on that. My personal theory is that wife/baby did not fit in with his pretty-boy lifestyle and would be a noose around his neck. And if he simply divorced her, he'd have to shell out for spousal support and child support for a looong time.

This is my concern...if they can't show motive in capital one case beyond a reasonable doubt, how will he ever be convicted of the crime? Your theory is much like mine....he simply wanted to be free--maybe free to marry Amber. But the insurance won't be a motive, if he didn't think the body would ever surface when he weighted her down.

Don't forget, even when the body isn't found, after a certain number of years, they can issue a death certificate. He'd then have been able to collect, if he weren't by then convicted of the murder.
