".....that will save Scott Peterson from the death penalty is if he can provide information on Kristin? Smart as a trade-off. I had no idea what he was talking about, I hadn't heard about this angle.

I believe Kristin Smart is the girl that was murdered at UCLA? where Scott had attended for awhile.

That case was never solved.

According to the post I was replying to, the school was San Luis Obispo. I heard the guest on "On the Record" mention her name; I had no idea who she was or how she was linked until I read about it here on FR.

Close...well, okay, not too close. It wasn't UCLA. She was a student at San Luis Obispo when SP was there. The investigative reporter who did a lot of work on her case said tonight on some program (don't ask me now which one!) that he had not seen any connection with SP, none had ever surfaced.

So aside from just being in the same town with the missing (for 10 years or so) and presumed dead young woman, there doesn't seem to be anything there.

I'd be interested though in hearing someday why it was he left his first college in Arizona before his first semester was even over. His parents say they never asked him why and he never told them...from what some people say (and I can't find articles about it, only posts on some forums) there was a missing/dead girl there at the same time. But there may be nothing to that either.
