I don't think we would hear if the DA would ask for the death penalty before arriagnment...formal charges have not even been brought yet.
At pre-trial the evidence will be presented and we will find out then what penalty will be sought.
They might have found plenty of blood at the home with liminol testing BEFORE the bodies were found but that alone could not prove that a murder took place...she lived there.
Now that she has been found, they could put the pieces together.

I was just thinking we are all probably stretched all over the USA and the globe even. Wouldn't it be fun if we were all in the same room, at a big table, drinking a beer, or hot tea, or whatever you fancy, discussing this case? It would be great.

That would be so great, wouldn't it? But we have to do it virtually, sipping our libations alone, I suppose. It would be terrific to find so many like-minded people in one place though!

What's underlying your question about what they sold their house for in SLO? Something to do with a money angle? If you knew their address, you could look up the closing price of that property, but of course that wouldn't tell you how much they netted on it. I'm curious what you're thinking about this?

On a related note, someone posted--can't remember who--that nbc reported that Scott had 10k cash and his brother's ID on him when he was arrested. I can't find that article in print anywhere--i checked nbc, msnbc, and cnbc. Anybody have a reference for that? thanks

The memorial at Laci's house.

Remember the other day when a neighbor of Laci's was mowing her lawn. He said he did it because Laci would never have let her yard go. So sad.............

Bravo for him!!! That case has to be a sore spot for the MPD. ANYTHING they could have done was more than WAS done. They might have actually had those cadets walk OUTSIDE of the trails in Rock Creek Park...

It sure saddens me to think that the DCPD refused the help of the Modesto PD when Chandra was missing...her story may have had an entirely different ending. Or should I say, Gary Condit's story would have.

I think that it got political. Remember that Gary Condidit's brother works/worked for the MPD? I made the trek out to Modesto a few times to hang out with FReepers in front of Condidit's office....

DD - what was the story on that?

RG, didn't see it, been going back and forth with family and computer tonight. That's the first lawyer to event attempt such a thing, lol. I've been amazed at the normal defense lawyers who have said he is cooked, well done, ready to serve, so to speak.

Boy oh, boy. I'm trying to catch up on this thread. I had to leave yesterday at post 500+ and you're in the 2000's now! :)

I've given up on trying to catch up. I wish everyone would stop posting while I have to be away so I could keep up.

That and the fact that Congress controls the salaries of the DCPD...I wonder, was Burl already retired when Chandra turned up missing?

From what I've read on courttv forum, it was ASU, and I can't be certain of the years he was there, but from memory, I'm thinking it was his first year of college, and his first college experience, I should say.

So he's 30 now, and that would have been about 12 years ago. Yes, about '91 sounds right, somehow, to me now.

And from what that poster on courttv was saying, there were 2 missing girls, bodies not found apparently, so they're not able to say murder officially I think.

I searched a couple of months ago on google, trying to find out about that, but nothing was coming up then.

What town is ASU in anyway?

They owned a business in SLO, no property, and sold it or closed it in 2000. They moved to Modesto soon afterwards. As far as a bankruptcy goes, none exists. Nothing filed in federal bankruptcy court, NE got it wrong. No liens against their property in Modesto other than one existing mortgage, no notice of default filed.
