Ann Coulter would LOVE to see this happen. A Christian Iraq would throw bonkers into the Islamokamizkazis.

Oh God, just what we need another 24 million Baptists! I don't think there's enough water in Iraq to dunk them all. If they became good Presbyterian 5-point Calvinists, you could get by with sprinkling!

Jesus said "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you..." Matthew 28:19

Franklin's group ought to be banned.

The SBCs can go in if they refrain from making stupid public statements about "evil and wicked religion," "moon god," and "paedophile."

The Southern Baptist project Operation Shoebox delivered 1000's of gifts to the Afganistan children the first Christmas after we routed the Taliban. We filled shoeboxes with toys, sweets, hairbrushes, so many little goodies. You should see the pictures of the little faces. After the Marines, send in the Baptists.

Flamers will be prayed over.

Don't have my glasses on; for a second I thought you said "spanking."

That would go a long way toward explaining the behavior of many of the "calvinists" on FR.

I thought we were trying to build peace, not start a whole new level of war. Catholic groups would be fine, relations between the RC Church and Islam are at least respectful.

Plans Under Way for Christianizing the Enemy

GREAT NEWS!!!Nowhere in the Christian Bible can you find scripture stating that Christians must slaughter non-believers. It would be a welcome change...

Both groups said only private donations have funded their plans thus far...

The more private $$$ that go into rebuilding Iraq, the less gov't $$$ needed to do so. Amen. The more the merrier.

Where are the stories about Jewish, Muslism, Hindu, Buddhist, and atheist charities going into Iraq?

But be honest, dude. Isn't it all just a waste of time? You're talking about an Islamic culture. As soon as they stick their government in place, and it will be islamic, then you'll be seeing a lot of allah talk taking over the airwaves.

I think the Assirian Christians beat us to it a thousand years ago.

I hope it works this time. It would be refreshing to see some sanity in this reagon for a change.

You mean you'd like them to *withhold truth*?

Don't worry Ill, God-hating atheists are allowed to prostlytize too. So go to it. Where are the atheist organizations offering to send in thousands of food and medical kits?

Without a Judeo-Christian world view, self government is very difficult if not impossible to sustain. The only culture that I know of which has done it is the Japanese, and they are good imitators. The only realistic chance for an Iraq that is not as tyranical and messed up as all of the other Arab countires is the spread of the Gospel.

But don't forget, we Presbyterians baptize the babies, so in the long run it will even out... ;-)

Isn't it all just a waste of time?

I am reminded of the story of a little boy walking along the beach with his Dad. There are hundreds of starfish that have been washed up on the shore, but are still alive. The boy starts picking up starfish and tossing them back in the water.

"Son, you are wasting your time. This beach goes on for miles. You could not make a difference".

The boy picks up a starfish and tosses it into the water. "I made a difference for that one."

I personally know SBC missionaries. In fact, I receive regular email updates from a missionary family in Africa that was part of my old church in PA.

I can tell you that the explicit and implied fears concerning SBC involvement are unfounded. The family I mentioned is working in a heavily Muslim area. They have been welcomed in many towns by the Islamic leader of the town and in once case, they received a goat as a present. This Islamic leader praised their work and actually asked if they wanted to convert to Islam because they were living their lives as a good muslim should (traveling around serving others in the name of God).

I would also point out that the SBC is part of the Red Cross disaster relief effort in this country that has been authorized by Congress. In times of disaster, they mobilize thousands of men with the responsibility of providing emergency meals. The SBC had people on the ground in New York on 9/12/01 and by the time they closed up shop several months later, they had served something like 700,000 meals. Most people don't know about their work because they don't go around crowing about it.
