United States Marines are hunting gazelles with rocks and pistols-to avoid having to eat MRE's.
The soldiers at a base outside of Tikrit say they are enjoying eating the unusual meat from Saddam Hussein's personal hunting preserve.
Marine Wing Support Squadron 271 are venturing into the woods to hunt the animals before hauling them back as a welcome substitute from the pre packaged Meals Ready to Eat.
'It was delicious, I don't know if it was because we were eating MRE's for two months, but everyone has enjoyed it a lot, said Corporal Joshua Wicksell age 26.

hehehe.... game hunting in Iraq. Saddam's having a fit over the uninvited guests, if he's still around to witness it.

Do you hear that annoying high-pitched pule wavering in the air? It's PETA anguishing over the poor "Bambis" suffering at the hands of the Barbarians...
Ahhhh - the sweet sound of a left-wing nutjob in agony :-0

This is probably worse in the libs book than the 'theft' of the museum the other day.

If you read the title closer, the marines aren't killing them till after their on the grill...

Actually I saw footage from the Bagdahd Zoo yesterday ant it was pathetic. The Zoo keepers apparently fled leaving the animals to starve and many have.
The GIs the showed are doing the very best they can but it was pretty clear they are neither trained nor equipped to handle this partucular relief effort.
Now would be the time for the PETA freaks to belly up to the bar and prove that they eman what they say. If they care as much about animals as they claim to going into a semi secure war zone would be one way to gain credibility.

Awesome story... American hunters enjoying sport in Iraq! If PETA pipes up, they should consider that the Marines aren't killing innocent civilians, just innocent Bambi. But, they think that Bambi is worth more than a civilian.

Hunting a fleet footed gazelle with rocks? (Yea, right!) Where were these animals? A children's petting zoo?

With all the speculation about Saddam's fate, I almost hope that he's alive so that he can read stories like this and see film of American soldiers relaxing at his palaces and hear about Tommy Franks smoking cigars and having a conference call with President Bush at Saddam's home.

Reminds me of the time on the demo range when we got tired of eating MRE's and decided to do a little "redneck" fishing.

I remember a L/Cpl Ayers chasing a jackrabbit acroos the flightline at LTA Tustin, CA one night. He alomost caught it, too. Well, I used the spotlight on the CH-53 to keep it lit up for him..... I won the bet, BTW. Grilling it before ya kill it? Ain't the meat fresher that way? AND I can see Marines hunting game animals with rocks and doin' a good job of it, too. Remember, they can't shoot at anything until they have orders from up the chain of command. Any unauthorized rounds goin' off and they're gonna catch hell, lose rank, get fined, possibly get thrown in the brig, and worst of all, get separated, at least temporarily, from their unit on the 'front line'. Yeah, Rocks make perfect sense. Remember. These people are some of the best trained atheletes in the world. OOO-RAAHHHH! MARINE CORPS! GET SOME!!

this story sound like bullsh*t to me.

Don't want to be a spoilsport, and well aware the Marines deserve some fresh meat, BUT: if those are the sand or mountain gazelles, they're either endangered, or pretty rare.

Darn those must be some fast marines to be able to chase down a gazelle then beat it to death with a rock...
