Translating Catholic sorrow and outrage into Catholic action
PRESS RELEASE
SUBJECT: 7,500 Days of Prayer and Fasting for Sen. Daschle and his bishop are answered, ending a grave public scandal to Catholic Faithful
April 17, 2003
Early in 2002, the Catholic Family Association of America (CFAA) initiated the Divine Mercy Prayer Project to provide pro-life individuals a means of acting as individuals, in a truly focused, high profile, united, sustained and simple way, to affect either the conversion or exposure to shame of those "Catholic" politicians whose actions are destroying innocent life, and Christian culture in the process, thus constituting a grave public scandal for all Christians and men of good will.
Sen. Tom Daschle was the first Catholic politician who was the recipient of this united and sustained spiritual work of Mercy, and today we are seeing the blessed fruits of this undertaking.
The project was implemented by the distribution of post-card brochures to people who would commit to prayer and fasting for the soul of Sen. Tom Daschle and his bishop. CFAA passed out 30,000 of these Divine Mercy Prayer Project cards at the 2002 March For Life in Washington DC. In addition, thousands more of these cards were distributed directly to Sen. Daschles constituents in South Dakota, and hundreds of individuals downloaded the Divine Mercy Prayer Project PDF file to print out and pass out on their own.
We received pledges for 7,500 Days of Prayer and Fasting for Sen. Daschle and his bishop, Sioux Falls' Bishop Robert Carlson.
Tim Chichester, President of CFAA, directly contacted Sen. Daschles office, as well as Bishop Carlsons office, appraising them of our efforts to gather commitments of prayer and fasting for Sen. Daschle. Mr. Chichester respectfully requested that, barring his conversion and rejection of the Culture of Death, Bishop Carlson formally declare Sen. Daschle no longer in communion with the Roman Catholic Church.
According to the April 17, 2003 edition of The Weekly Standard:
TOM DASCHLE may no longer call himself a Catholic. The Senate minority leader and the highest ranking Democrat in Washington has been sent a letter by his home diocese of Sioux Falls . . . directing him to remove from his congressional biography and campaign documents all references to his standing as a member of the Catholic Church. . . The directive from Sioux Falls' Bishop Robert Carlson is rather something less than excommunication--and, at the same time, something more: a declaration that Tom Daschle's religious identification constitutes, in technical Catholic vocabulary, a grave public scandal.
We at CFAA commend Sioux Falls' Bishop Robert Carlson for his courage and leadership in taking this most urgent and necessary stance in defense of the Culture of Life and the Roman Catholic Faith. We encourage all faithful Catholics to continue to pray and fast for Sen. Daschles salvation and reunion with the Church, and we hope the CFAA Divine Mercy Prayer Project will foster similar positive results among the many other Culture of Death Catholic politicians. As a former investigator for a Sheriff's dept., I can assure you that this is not just a "Catholic" problem... but you see, since the voter numbers are high in the Catholic faith, bashing the church and its members was a high priority for the "Clintonesque" regime. They have infiltrated the church here in Kalifornia, and it will be a long time before we can get it back on track and away for its new found "tolerances" of homosexuality, abortion, etc.
Let's fight back, and this post is a great example of how to do it! We also need a lot more media play...

Daschle's voters need to become aware of his judicial obstruction!
Freepers, rather than waiting to see what happens with Estrada and Owen, we need to take the lead. That means presuring Senators, special interest groups, media organizations, etc. This thread is meant to be an ongoing effort to get this man confirmed. For too many years liberals have had their way on the courts. Now, President Bush is in a position to move the courts to the right. The election of '02 showed that the country is with the President. I think it's time to let Daschle, Hillary, and Pelosi know this is Bush country. Are you with me! Let's FREEP these people.

Well, the problem is that this post is going to be read pretty much by people who already agree with us (although writing it is good therapy!!). In addition, I think the chances of the news media covering it (from a Christian perspective) are almost zero, given their leftist-secular bias.

Obviously, the politicians on the left value power more than their religion and their souls. I hope some Divine guidance can change their attitudes.

What in the world makes you say that?
The founders put quite a bit of stock in a creator and the concept of inalienable right's as well.
