April 17, 2003 -- WASHINGTON - Terror mastermind Abu Abbas was desperately phoning Palestinian friends to help him sneak into Iran shortly before U.S. helicopters roared over his Baghdad hideout in the early-morning hours to arrest him.
U.S. intelligence sources yesterday revealed new details of the two-hour firefight and stunning capture of one of the world's most wanted men - while a legal fight loomed about his fate.

Lemme understand this. He's in our custody in a country we just conquered, and we're talking about extradition?

He's more useful alive. We need lots of high profile trials.

Gitmo Bay. But not before he spends some time in custody with our Kurdish friends.

My thought exactly. Send him to Gitmo for a tribunal.

Abbas fled to the northern city of Mosul late last week and then took a highway west to the Syrian border.
But Syrian border guards refused him entry. ...the Damascus government wanted nothing to do with Abbas.
Abbas tried again the next day at the border, after furiously calling Palestinian friends in Damascus to intercede on his behalf. But he was again turned back.
Sounds like the terrorists abroad are not as willing to oppose President Bush's agenda as the Demorats at home are.
Good. Now for the war on the homefront.

mastermind Abu Abbas was desperately seems like the words 'mastermind' and 'desperately' shouldn't be used side-by-side. He's just a murderous pud who picks on the innocent. Dress him up in frilly nightware with a pork necklace, put him on trial in front of the world and let him squirm

He was arrested coming out of Blockbuster Video. At the time of his arrest he had copies of "Shawshank Redemption," "Dead Man Walking" and "The Truth About Cats and Dogs."
As the his car was towed away after his arrest, one could see on the back bumper stickers that read:
RE-ELECT GORE
and
QUESTION AUTHORITY!!!

When I think of how muslim extremists are using prisons as recruitment centers, the idea of bringing these guys back where they can recruit more scumbags doesn't appeal to me.
A pity they couldn't just accidentally let him commit suicide by falling out of a helicopter - or better yet, after questioning him, let him take a dive out of a three story window in the French manner. Interrogation aboard a ship would be nice, particularly if the prisoner is strapped into a wheelchair, but you know how slick those decks can be when seas are rough.

Sorry, I think disable him and hand him over to the Jews (citizens, not Govt) in the center of Israel. I think a few Mussolinis would send a message.

Abbas...panicked as U.S. troops tightened the noose around Baghdad. Typical Arab chickensh*t worm.

and the elite Delta Force Ahhhh, someone finally uses the word correctly.
To: kattracks
Abbas and "a handful" of his men were captured in the operation, which was carried out by a combination of Rangers, Green Berets and the elite Delta Force, sources said. This article is a lie. It has to be, because all the liberals have been telling us that there was no connection between Saddam and terrorism.
How could this little group of known terrorists manage to exist within the peaceful Saddam-led Iraq? The Times must be wrong.
To: agitator
He has already been sentenced to about 5 sequential life sentences in Italy, so he comes preconvicted, just in case Johny Cochran or Dershitwits should decide to defend him.
To: kattracks
The Palestinian Authority demanded his release, saying his detention violated a 1995 Middle East peace deal. What part of protecting one of the world's most wanted and violent terrorists has anything to do with Middle East peace. This demand alone should be a causus belli between us and the PA.

Terror mastermind Abu Abbas was desperately phoning Palestinian friendsThis is how we're nabbing him. No phone call originating in Iraq goes unmonitored by our intelligence.
