Sahaf, the Iraqi Information Minister, committed suidide using hanging (Translation)

Translation by me from Hebrew to English:

The Iraqi Information Minister, Saeed al-Sahaf, put an end to his life - according to a report yesterday in the Iranian newspaper "Al-Ofak".

The newspaper, that comes out in the United States in the Arabic language, based its claim on Iraqi civilians who ran away from Baghdad towards the border with Iran. To their words, Sahaf hung himself last Wed., a few hours before Baghdad was conquered by US marines. This report has no official confirmation.

Sahaf, a 63 year old, turned during the war to a media star for his appearances and optimist interpretation that he gave from the battle field. A week ago he appeared for the last time in front of reporters. He left and said he will not make any more press conferences or special briefings, and from then his tracks were lost. A day before that, he declared that "Baghdad is strong, unpentratable, and big," and denied reports that US armor was entering its proximity.

The Jordanian journal Al-Tostor reported this week from sources in Baghdad, that Sahaf and Dorai, Saddam's vice in the "Revolutionary Council," were the only ones who survived the American bombings. White House press secretary, Ari Fliecher, says two days ago at a press conference that high Iraqi officials, such as Saraf and Tariq Aziz found asylum in Syria.

"Do not believe the lies! See for yourselves, and do not become the tools of the Al Capone media! They say I have committed suicide beneath the walls of Baghdad...They are encouraging me to commit more suicides expeditiously! These are lies, I tell you. God will not roast my stomach in hell!"

Say it ain't so, Baghdad Bob. I live to hear you say, "Live, from New York, it's Saturday Night." I pine to see you on Letterman. And then, you can settle in to your nice corporate communications job with the DNC.

You know, most people who utter total fantasies and delusions, and then commit suicide, are considered legally insane.

I'm not sure he could stay with the script. It'd come out like, "Live, from Bogota, its Wednsday Morning!"

One of the FNC commentators, Col. Hunt maybe?, said that sources told him that Baghdad Bob and Tariq Aziz both died in that restaurant we bombed while trying to get Saddam.

I could believe this if it was reported that the Iraqis were, in fact, the ones that hung him. I don't believe he hung himself.

Some officials of the Iraqi regime were hung by Iraqis in another part of the country. If true, maybe that's what happened to BB, he was hung because he was part of the regime.

Actually, I would laugh myself silly over that.
