The DUs have posted this on their forum and are trying to poke fun of it. I can't believe what slime exists in this country.

Well, honey, my husband used to be a liberal till he met me. He was a long-haired hippie who was an anti-nuclear demonstrator and now, just this evening, he looked at me and said, "Bush is THE MAN!"
I don't know how I did it, but he has seen the light!

I suggest this "Conservative" should start dating women (singular is woman) rather than just "female" or "girl", which he kept referring to with tiresome consistancy.
He should be seeking a mate who is an adult. The young are often stupid and liberal.

Funny article and a lot of it true. I'm about to marry a great woman but one who votes Democrat basically for one reason: abortion. I'm convinced that the great majority of women who vote Dem do so for this reason far above all other reasons.
My fiancee has a daughter who just got her law degree from U-Minnesota. Guess what her party affiliation is and who her political hero is? Clue: it ain't Republicans or Antonin Scalia. Plus she was a big fan of Wellstone and had friends who worked for his campaign. She knows all the liberal Dem buzzwords and talking points and as well as the usual feminist terminology. She wants to get married though, but her liberal boyfriends are turning out to be unfaithful scuzzballs. Can you imagine that? By the way did you know that the recently elected governor of Minnesota Tim Pawlenty is a crook? Why I never would have known that if she hadn't told me. (snicker, snicker)
Nevertheless these are very good people just politically obtuse. Actually my fiancee resembles Libertarians more in her beliefs than Democrats. But she had never heard of Libertarians before I told her about them. Give me time; I'll convert her to the GOP eventually. But even if she votes Libertarian like she did in one local election last November, it beats voting for Dems.

I'm not the same Bernard that wrote this article, but I am Bernard, and I live in the Chicago area. (Born and raised a Daley Democrat and Catholic).
I met my wife at a party for divorced Catholics on May 23, and we were married June 25. The jury is still out on whether it will last, becuase it will only be 23 years this June.
Anyway, I don't remember discussing politics with her at all before we got married. Later, we found out we agree on many political things, but that was just part of the overall comfort we felt with each other about life in general.
Chicago is a big place, and the author needs to look in other parts of the area to find what he's looking for. Good luck, Bernard!

A Conservative Man's Rules For Marrying A Liberal Woman. (If Love Overpowers Sense & Sensibility). As a single guy, I fall very much under that category. What's a good guy supposed to do but keep his mouth shut? ;-) Oh and yes, don't discuss money and sex with women either if you're looking forward to be hitched and saying your I Do's down the road.

This guy sounds like a complete maroon. Why would a conservative man want to date/marry a feminst-liberal-democrat woman in the first place? Who wants someone who's going to go out and abort his child, for instance?
There are a LOT of young conservative women out there - if men know where to look. Go to church. Go work for Republican candidates and meet the women campaign workers. Get involved with the pro-life movement.
Lying or attempting to deceive someone about one's political views is reprehensible. What kind of a relationship can be built on deceit? This guy sounds like he would be a loser with women *regardless* of politics.

This is an interesting thread! I wish I had seen it earlier.
I don't really agree with everything the author of the article says. I don't think you can just leave politics out and expect things to go well. If you just want a quick date, sure, but if you'd like to develop a friendship, you're going to need to actually agree on some things :-)
And trust me, I know how hard it is... I'm a single guy... living in San Francisco :-p
As others have said, the best thing to do is to go places where like minded people will go. (I agree that church is a great place to meet people. But, I'd caution people that if you do that just to meet people, the women will see right through you. I go because I really want to be there, and a great bonus is that I do meet women who are grounded in faith and conservative.)
Still, it's hard in places like the SF Bay area. I feel like a lot of Gen X/Y people (including me) here are sometimes confused about how to date and how it should work. We do less of it than we would all like because no one knows what to expect, and you honestly never know what will offend someone, even in conservative/Christian circles. I have even run into a few women who were offended when I opened a door for them... Is it really too much to ask to let a guy do that now and then? :-)

WHAT ARE CONSERVATIVE MEN DOING DATING LIBERAL WOMEN when there are conservative women to be had?? personally, i could not date someone that was on such a different page politically. my political beliefs are a huge part of who i am, and i could not submerge that in order to interest a man, and then spring them on him later. And like the author, i would end up mocking him 24/7!

There's a girl I was dating recently and she was just gorgeous. Former cheerleader, sophisticated, brilliant, funny, snappy dresser, charming, etc etc. She was also the most left-wing pinko I've ever met. We were friends for a long time, tried the dating thing, but its like, I can't imagine spending my life having disdain for someone's philosophy and politics. I'm more often than not genuinely offended by leftists, so I can't imagine waking up next to one everyday. Seriously, look for girls who share your philosophies on life before you accidentally fall for one who stands for the opposite of everything you stand for. I eventually found the right girl, emphasis on RIGHT. ;)

I married in my early 20's and wish I would have thought about discussing politics. Ignorance of youth I guess. I was aghast to later discover my husband was a dem. Even worse, he ran for city council. Naturally, he's my ex now, and I'm married to a wonderful conservative :)
