RALEIGH, N.C. -- The State Department of Commerce will lead a trade mission to Europe next month. The search for new industries and investments will include stops in France, a country opposed to the U.S.-led war in Iraq.
The trip is causing controversy.

Barbara Allen of the N.C. Democratic Party calls statements against the trip "silly." Silly? It's good foreign policy in the interests of the US.

I am so furious I cannot think. Governor Easley refused to go when President Bush paid tribute to fallen Marines at Camp Lejune. Even Senator Edwards went.
These North Carolina Democrats are nothing but evil, and they need to go to hell.
Please start Freeping, I beg you. Do it for the Children.

Perhaps they can manufacture the French tank killing surface to surface missiles in NC and then ship them to terrorists.
Morons.

Nothing Easley does surprises me anymore. Patrick Ballentine can beat him in '04 if he runs a smart campaign!

Y'know, there's plenty of business to be had in Italy, Spain, Ireland, and Great Britain, guys. It might also be a good idea to visit the European economies that will prosper in the 21st century. Hint: They're in Eastern, not Western, Europe. If they get a clue they might even decide that the EU isn't worth it (hoping).

Y'all in NC have an immigration problem. It's obvious that way too many Northeasterners have moved down there and ruined your politics.
Close the borders!

This trip should be publicized loudly in the media!!! How can ANY American, especially a government representative, even think of rubbing elbows with these scum? Let us tell them NO, and to go somewhere else or stay the hell home!!!

I am ashamed that our Gov is from NC! The North Carolina governor is from my hometown of Rocky Mount, NC.
I'm ashamed to even admit that.

This is a note that I received from Barbara Allen...
IF YOU ARE READY TO PUT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE IN NORTH CAROLINA OUT OF WORK , THEN I AM SURE TO YOU THAT IS NOT SILLY. DO YOU EVEN BEGIN TO UNDERSTAND WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF ALL THE CO. IN N .C. THAT ARE OWNED BY THE FRENCH WERE TO LEAVE?

Jeez. Doesn't she know how to use Caps Lock?
Well, I admit I partly agree with that.
One French company that does employ people here in eastern NC, where I live, is Alcatel.
I cannot think of others offhand.
