Corruption at CNN
Peter Collins
Mr. Eason Jordan's admission that CNN had to suppress the news from Baghdad in order to report it brought back memories for me. In January 1993, I was in Baghdad as a reporter for CNN on a probationary, three-month contract. Previously, I had been a war reporter for CBS News in Vietnam and East Asia and in Central America for ABC News. I had also made three trips to Baghdad for ABC News before the Gulf War. Now, Bill Clinton was about to be inaugurated and there was speculation that Saddam Hussein might "test" the new American president. Would the new administration be willing to enforce the "no-fly" zones set up in northern and southern Iraq after the Gulf War?

Its that 18-20% fringe group of anti-war protestors and CNN employees who are the only ones left watching.

Good article. I think CNN has spent it's credability to the point where they are no longer trusted on the left or right. They are now known to be complicit in the murder and torture of every Iraqi for the last twelve years. We must not let people forget this. Ted's little news network has continued the work of Hanoi Jane.
They better hope Larry King has a lot of years left, because Arron Brownshirt isn't a draw for them.
fyi - for future reference, freepers usually note when they have modified an article title.

All the bosses where I work have satellite TV in their offices, turned to news stations. All of them, with one glaring exception, are turned to Fox News. Sorry to have to say that the one exception who watches (ptui!)CNN is MY boss :-(

Rush today asked "why cnn has any viewers and why they are still on the air?" They're STILL on the air? I hadn't noticed. I've been watching FOX news channel.

Eason Jordan's amazing confession just floored me- it was like Scott Peterson going on Larry King to tell how he murdered his wife. Not something you ever really expect to see. Did Jordan have any idea of the immensity of the lapse of integrity he was admitting to???
And then they have the audacity to run those "CNN-THE MOST TRUSTED NAME IN NEWS" spots all the time. Truly a new low (or is it a high?) in chutzpah.

Thanks for posting this incredible article as its own thread!
Peter Collins story reminds of three honest CPAs/CFOs who I know. They quit working for Arthur Andersen years ago when asked to do stuff that was not correct if not illegal.

This reporter suggests that CNN's behavior was particularly egregious compared to the other TV news outfits. I rather wonder about that. Does CNN really slant the news that much more than CBS? What did Dan Rather have to do to get his interview with Saddam? Kiss his toes?

This is a fascinating real life story of how bad it was/is to work for CNN as a reporter.

Well I found this interesting:
The next day, Brent Sadler, CNN's chief reporter at the time in Baghdad (he is now in northern Iraq), came up to me in a hallway of the al Rasheed Hotel. He had been pushing for the interview with Saddam and had urged Mr. Johnson and Mr. Jordan to come to Baghdad to help seal the deal. "Petah," he said to me in his English accent, "you know we're trying to get an interview with Saddam. That piece last night was not helpful."
This is the same reporter that CNN had touring the countryside coming into Tikrit from the North the day before the Marines came in from the south.
I wonder if the shootout at the checkpoint as they apparently turned to leave was REAL?

Rush covered this today...CNN is being exsposed for what we always knew them to be. I mean seriously...it was started by Ted Turner, how could it not be the lead tank in the Fifth Column rolling through our country??
Rush also played a sound bite of the Iraqi UN Amb saying goodbye to Richard Roth(CNN UN reporter)and kissing his cheek.

Bump this to the top. My several years of research on the subject of media bias pretty much verfies the observations of most all the freepers here. CNN has major credibility prblems as a result of these recent revelations. and these issues aren't going to go away anytime soon.
