A little fun at tax time

When it came time to write my state income tax check and federal income tax check (amount owed), an impish thought came over me. I decided to put the reason for this check.
For the state income tax check, I put "Roy Barnes retirement fund" -- the former governor of Georgia defeated in the last election. And this is partly true -- some of my tax dollars in Georgia will go for a retirement for Roy Barnes.
On my Federal Tax Return, I had even more fun -- I wrote that this check was for the "Bill Clinton retirement fund". Once again there is truth in this, as former presidents get a big chunk of money each year.
But the fund part was writing "retired" next to both of those names...

"Just stroked a check for $96,000 to the IRS."
I don't think my brain would allow my hand to write a check that large to that agency.

Your return never even goes to the IRS if you owed money until about a year later. The IRS contracts with regional banks to handle returns which owe. You would think it was illegal to open mail which is not addressed to you, or at least it is in the real world? I don't think the machine at Chase really cares what tag line you scribed.
But a sense of humor is cool, no matter where the prose is hiding eh?

For $96,000 bucks, it's custom for the stroking to be done to you, not from you.

Do you think that
"For the unconstitutional boondoggle of your choice"
would fit in that memo space?
To: danneskjold
I love it.
Did Charles Shultz really right that?

I went to H&R Block last week. I was surprised to learn that there is a 1% flat tax on gross income in the township in which I live. My employer didn't mention it. The township didn't mention it. There is no mechinism to inform people who move into the township. I guess they expect you to learn about it through word-of-mouth. Now they're going to ask me to pay interest because I didn't file quarterly.
Somehow I think it is just looney that one should have to go ask the government if there are taxes you don't know about.

Well, if you don't like to write large checks to the Fed every year, and if you don't like the IRS getting first dibs on your paycheck every payday and if you don't think it is anyone's business how much money you earn, you might be interested in the

Last time I had to pay, I made the check out to "Infernal Revenue Service"; and for "Occupation" I write in "Wage slave".
