We had a small, but excessively visible rally today in Boca Raton. Seeking the truth, maccraze, Jack Furnari (I forgot your nick, sorry), my daughter Erin and yours truely took up positions on the Spanish River Blvd. overpass over I-95 today at around 4:00 pm, just in time for rush hour.
Jack brought his 15'x30' foot flag to hang off of the overpass and I brought my #2 daughter and camera.
The flag was unfurled at a little after 4:00 pm and the reception from the (captive) I-95 motorists was overwhelmingly positive. There were several, umm..., dissenters (3) but they were outnumbered by the hundred of supporters on I-95 and Spanish River Blvd. The highlight was when the Tri-Rail train blew his horn in support of the troops. I was down on I-95 taking photos when the horn went off and I almost jumped out of my shoes. I was saved only by the weight of my lens.
After about an hour one of Boca's finest came by to shut us down because we presented a "traffic hazard". On his way out he lit up his siren in support.

Maybe having a little boy has wimped me out a little bit, but I would not want someone's death or injury on my conscience over a FreepWimp? The "Don" ... no way!

I did qualify it with "maybe" and " a little bit".
Don't want to get carried away with the compassion stuff.

I understand what your saying Jack, but with all due respect to you. I can now almost 100% guarentee that officer Meyer(I just recognized him now when I came back to this thread) of The Boca Raton Police Department did not recieve a complaint and was acting on his own discretion.
I had an experience with this cop. You can ask John Hallman, C.S.E. if I would valid reason to believe this.I was volunteering for C.S.E. at the time, John has the report, I won't post it without his permission.
Dennis knows a little about the experience too.

He may well be a jerk off. I dont know.
I've been trying to say that I was concerned before he came and didn't really disagree with him.
Had I disagreed with him I would have handled it differently.
I do know from past experience in political campaigns that the police will stop both Dems & Reps from doing the overpass thing.
In fact, I was expecting them to stop us quicker than they did.

As I stated I understand your concerns Jack but if this cop lied to you about the complaint, to gain your respect under the false pretence that he was a Patriotic American, where do the lies end. We now know he doesn't even understand the Constitution or respect our rights under it.
Boca has got a big problem and this guy is either going to cost you the Tax Payer big in a law suit or hurt somebody unjustifiably.
As I also stated I don't believe he had juristiction there and I'm sure without a complaint enforcement on a questionable ordinance that may not even exist, breaking things up the celebration of Old Glory was discretionary on his part.
I have seen other celebrations on over passes maybe smalltowns has some info on those events?

I know someone made a post when this issue came up in a thread about that overpass rally which explained that some agency had jurisdiction on overpasses which superceeded the general rights the public has on sidewalks. Although we agree that police often make up laws ad hoc (I ride a bike and find most police have virtually no idea what laws are in place regarding their use) one can appreciate that overpasses present a high-risk for both deliberate or inadverted acts which have caused fatalities.
