STEPS were taken by a distributor for Apple Computers to ensure that Israeli-made parts do not enter Bahrain after an Israeli-made battery was discovered by a customer in an old Apple Computer model.
Apple Centre manager Asif Mohammed Irfan said the battery powers the calendar and clock of an old Apple G4 model but added that he didnt believe that it was sold in large numbers.
We were not aware that the computer contained anything made in Israel. We, in turn, informed our Dubai-based suppliers Arab Business Machines who were very displeased with the discovery, he said.
They have taken up the matter with Apple Middle East, which is based in Ireland and ensured us that this wont happen again.
I was shocked when I found out. The Made in Israel stamp was written in very small print which could hardly be seen.
We dont believe that too many computers with Israeli-made batteries have been sold in Bahrain because it is only one older model in particular that had them, explained Mr Irfan.
He said that Arab Business Machines had sent them replacement batteries, which have already arrived.
Anyone who finds that their computer is powered by such a battery can come to us and we will change it for them free of charge, said Mr Irfan.
The battery was discovered at a computer in a prominent advertising agency where one of the employees, a Sudanese national, was so upset about the issue that he took it up with Apple Centre and contacted the GDN.
We were having trouble with our clock so we thought it might have been the battery, said the employee, who would not be named.
As it turned out this was not the problem but we were surprised to find out that the computer contained a part made in Israel.
But this raises interesting questions about how widespread it may be. We could have Israeli parts in our mobile phones, cameras and even our vehicles and not even know it.
Arab countries, he said, should not even recognise Israel let alone do business with it.
I object to this because of what they have done to the Palestinians for the last 50 years. Hardly a day goes by when a Palestinian is killed by the Israelis and nothing is done about it.

"We could have Israeli parts in our mobile phones, cameras and even our vehicles and not even know it.That is correct. To play it safe, you should burn all such items in your possession.

"They have taken up the matter with Apple Middle East, which is based in Ireland and ensured us that this wont happen again." I thought American companies (and foreign subsidieries?) couldn't discriminate like this.
Perhaps a call to Apple headquarters?

Perhaps the Israelis have been controlling the electronics
all along.
Arab hate, it's all a zionist plot.

I object to Arab countries having Apple computer's if they are going to object to Israeli parts.
But since "the Jews control America and the West" shouldn't they destroy all of their western technology.

I guess I'd feel this way if I found out that my computer had a Barbra-Streisand made chip in it. ;-)
The time is going to come that the Middle East is going to have to have an all-out war to resolve all this. Until then, stupidity like this Rules.

What's the difference between the Arabs and that battery?
The battery had a positive side.

"That is correct. To play it safe, you should burn all such items in your possession." Or, send all such items to the "Viligant citizen needs paintball stuff" company at P.O. box 000 Atlanta whereas they will be disposed of properly.(To the highest bidder.)

Sounds like `neoconservative' trickery to me.

Ditto.
It seems beyone these people's mental capabilities to realize that all the gadgets and gear they want comes from cultures they want to destroy.
Apple should boycott them. PS: Apple woould not lose any money because they would still be sold on the black market, Apple getting the first cut if you will, and the computers costing more in the end to those who are bitching about stamps on batteries :) :) :).
