The Russian aid to our enemy Saddam--while obstructing our liberation campaign--demonstrates the unchanged core of the country.
Bush did not see any soul in Putin's eyes--for there is none there.
Bush's statement he "trusts" Putin ought to be taken in context of the late Dr. Fred Schwarz' motto, "You can trust the communists--to be communist."
There must be a price for Putin's treachery beginning with no Russian role in post-war Iraq.
Remember that Russia now sells arms to China, Syria, Iran--while we pay for its nuclear security through Nunn-Lugar.
Russia is an enemy, not an ally.
Absolutely! I cringed when President Bush said he trusts Putin -- never could figure that one out. This is also where I differ with Condi Rice and her wanting to have the Russians as our allies again. With friends like the Russians who needs enemies!
I heard this story once:
A woman was collecting firewood in the hills, when the heel of her foot crushed the head of a rattlesnake. The woman felt sorry for the snake, so she took it home and spent months nursing it back to health. Then one day she was throwing some wood on the fire to make sure the snake was warm and it lashed out and bit her. As she lay there dying, she asked the snake "Why did you bite me?" "I saved your life and nursed you back to health!" The snake just hissed and said "Look you *!@#%. You knew I was a rattlesnake.
