Clinton was an advisor to Blair and the Labour Party before their last election. Also when Clinton was mentioned to head Oxford, Blair as in agreement.

If you read that Brits 2nd resolution benchmarcks, they read like something Clinton would write. Not saying he wrote them, but they sound like something he would write.

"Are all Russians like you ?"
---

No, most of them are not. Just as most Iraqis aren't like Saddam.

But SOME Russians did perfect the art of propaganda -- maybe that's where the Iraqi information (=propaganda) minister went to school. Everyone on earth can see that the sun is shining, but they will keep insisting it's raining.

The communists did that all the time and apparently Russia and some Russians are continuing it.

The deal was that Turkey would be reimbursed for it's economic losses caused by her closing her borders wih Irak. This never materialized, in short we were conveniently told that "oops, it did not pass congress." Add to that the weapons which were left in northern Irak and ended up in the hands of the PKK terrorist organization, and we now have extreme suspicion towards the USA by the citizenry of Turkey.

If they desire another Cold War, we'll just have to bankrupt their pathetic asses once again.+++

You may bankrupt yourself fisrt. Russia is capitalistic now. It isn't easy to bankrupt self sufficient country of very smart people:)).

Did you repay the old cold war debt which is around 6.5 trillions of dollars?

Maybe I very indealistic

That thinking will get you and others killed. If this was about upholding the rule of law then the UN would have easily inforced its rulings.

For Russia, France and Germany it was about might makes right. They wanted to stop the US and they wanted to do it by ganging up on it.

They certainly didn't have their own credibibility as an international peace keeper in mind and they didn't have people of Iraq in mind. All; they had was what they thought was a chance to use their combined might to deal a blow to the US.

Yes, you are idealistic in believing that those countries aligned with France were not using the barbaic methods.

Most of the smart Russians got the hell outta that place a long time ago. The brain-drain was significant, and both the U.S. and Israel were the main beneficiaries.

Those people mostly not russians. And not best. You just check background of those people.
Some russians went abroad too but with purpose to learn and return back. Some already did that.
Check immigration figures.

----

US GDP: $10 trillion

Russia GDP: $1.27 trillion

"A decade after the implosion of the centrally planned Soviet Union in December 1991, Russia is still struggling to establish a modern market economy, modernize its industrial base, and maintain strong economic growth. The period 1992-98 was marked by a poor business climate, a deterioration in already threadbare living standards, and failure to institute modern market reforms. Conditions improved markedly in 1999-2002, with annual output growing by an average 6% and with progress in structural reforms. Yet serious problems persist. Russia remains heavily dependent on exports of commodities, particularly oil, natural gas, metals, and timber, which account for over 80% of exports, leaving the country vulnerable to swings in world prices. Russia's industrial base is increasingly dilapidated and must be replaced or modernized if the country is to maintain strong economic growth. Other problems include widespread corruption, lack of a strong legal system, capital flight, and brain drain. "

You were saying...

I think if Russia were smart, they would admit they really screwed up (in a face-saving way) and demonstrate their change of heart in some tangible manner, as in telling us all about Iraq's WMD, which they obviously have full knowledge of.

The US is showing that it really isn't a very good idea to be our enemy.

If Russia waits until 17 UN resolutions are passed and ignored by the offending country, I won't blame them for acting in their self interest, either.

We ought to be very careful what we wish for when we wish for the demise of Putin. There are factions in Russia that can be VERY dangerous to the world.

True they have to work over that. But Afganistan isn't yet.
Accually Soviet Army occupied that country in 1 week in 1979. All fun began later.

Chechnja just tough fighters almost like russians. No wonder they are ours anyway. It is civil war.

BTW Chchens never would give up thier capital without fight like Iraqis did.

Here it is. This is the fatal flaw in the russian constitution, (besides the impossible socialism guarantees thjat will destroy the country)....

Article 2. Man, his rights and freedoms shall be the supreme value. It shall be a duty of the state to recognize, respect and protect the rights and liberties of man and citizen. First, your rights come from the state. That is a severe fatal flaw. Second, your rights are one of many competing duties of the state.

All of the enumerated rights are worhtless if the come from the state.

Trust me, you may think that our constitutions seem similar but they are not. The only think simalar is that your seeds will grow a thorn bush while our seeds will grow an oak. They both lool the same but they are drastically different.

Given the fact that the Chechnyans are muslims and are at war with Russia I fail to see them cooperating on anything.
