Actor Ron Silver, addressing the Pro-USA and pro-troops rally in Washington DC today and responding to his introduction as a "prominent linberal" said "I think you've seen the end of my days as prominent liberal."
"Peace at what risk? Peace on whose terms? Peace for how long?" he went on. "There are worse things than war. People who think nothing is worth a war is worse."
The enthusiastic crowd cheered as Silver evoked Elie Wiesel and the lessons learned through the horrors of Nazi Germany, enunciating the reasons for America's humanitarian intervention in Iraq.
Following Silver, Linda Chavez remarked that she herself was a former liberal, and invited Silver to join the conservative ranks. "We ought to have a support group for ex-liberals," she said, laughing.

It still is astounds me how these people can be anti-semitic, and then turn right around and accuse Republicans and conservatives of being Nazis. This a huge disconnect. Great and telling comment!

What's to 'disprove'?
(Just what Book & Chapter are you quoting from?)

But I know how fast the metamorphosis can be when coming over from the dark side. As an ex-liberal myself, I know that the truth, when it finally brakes through, hits you like a ton of bricks. There is no going back. If my experiences are common, Mr. Silver will find himself hanging with a new crowd in short order...and he'll be much happier. I'm an ex-Liberal, too, so I know what you're saying. And I see two others on the edge. One can ony hope. An important part of it is that once one sees the lies and obfuscation, one gets enraged. It all comes down to honesty.
Ex-Liberals become good Conservatives because they've always had the will to do right.

New International Version
Matthew 21
I'm sorry if I thought the meaning of the post was clear.
God had created a vineyard and left the caretakers (the Jews) in charge.
He sent messengers to them repeatedly, who they frequently beat and killed.
Finally, he sent his son, who they also rejected and killed.
In response, he will remove the caretakers from their position and give it to those more worthy.
I find it difficult to imagine a more obvious description of God's rejection of the Jews as a chosen people after they rejected and killed his Son.
Perhaps you interpret it differently, but it is interesting that the religious leaders listening seemed to agree with me as to its meaning.

With all due respect, I believe Jesus himself said he was the "Son of Man".

Jesus chose some apostles too And then unchose the only one that rejected him. Judas was specifically replaced, unlike any of the other apostles.
If any of the other apostles were ever replaced, even when they died, the Bible doesn't mention it.

Even if Christians are the only ones chosen now ---it wouldn't mean automatically saved and no one gets saved as a group, it will be on an individual basis. Anyhow I'm not God and I don't know who gets saved ---I probably have enough to worry about with just myself.

I believe Jesus is God ---so if someone accepts God they still might be okay with God ---even if they didn't get it completely right.
According to John.............
NIV John 3:34-36
34. For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit.
35. The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands.
36. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him."
NIV John 5:22-24
22. Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son,
23. that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.
24. "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.
NIV John 6:28-29
28. Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?"
29. Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."
NIV John 6:45
45. It is written in the Prophets: `They will all be taught by God.' Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me.
NIV John 8:42
42. Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me.
NIV John 14:6
6. Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Agreed.
Although Jesus DID say, "No one comes to the Father except through me."
He did not add, "or if they're Jews."

My apologies.
I assumed continued posts about the Jews as the Chosen People indicated disagreement.

Even if Christians are the only ones chosen now .....
They were first CALLED 'Christian' at Antioch (NIV Acts 11:26 and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.) because of following the teaching of the Christ.
I would guess the the Orthodox Jew of today, while still believing in the FATHER, if he rejects the SON, he is in trouble. The Muslim of today, while claiming to know the FATHER, definitely rejects the SON: maintains that GOD CANNOT have a fleshly body.
The Apostle John records Jesus as making the assertion that if someone DID know the FATHER they would, indeed, accept the SON.
So, I would not call todays Christians 'chosen', but I'd call them 'Choosers'!
They 'heard the call' and they have made THEIR choice.
On a broader scale, EVERYONE today is among a group called 'chosen':
NIV Romans 11:5
5. So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.
NIV Ephesians 1:11-12
11. In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,
12. in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.
NIV Colossians 1:25-27
25. I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness--
26. the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints.
27. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
NIV 1 Thessalonians 1:4-5
4. For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you,
5. because our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake.
NIV James 2:5
5. Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?
NIV 1 Peter 1:1-2
1. Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To God's elect, strangers in the world, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia,
2. who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance.
NIV 1 Peter 2:9-10
9. But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
10. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
NIV Ephesians 2:10
10. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

I assumed continued posts about the Jews as the Chosen People indicated disagreement.
I guess since they didn't do a very good job of getting the Word out, all the REST of us were also included in spreading the truth.........
NIV Matthew 28:16-20
16. Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.
17. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.
18. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20. and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
By "teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you", the nations would then take up the mantle of spreading the Gospel. Then, the same instruction would be given the NEW believers, and repeated and repeated and.............

I wanna see a movie starring Ron Silver, James Woods,
and Dennis Miller.
To: Scothia
Some people would rather lie to themselves than admit they are wrong.
When Silver said "Those are our planes now" at the Klintoon inaugaration, he epitomized the 2-inch crowd at its worst.
Lets hope he is the first of many fine leftist/bohemian/guilty rich/ignorant but talented actors that have the courage to face reality.
To: Illbay
I guess I'm tired of the "anti-Semitic" label being applied to any- and everyone who does not think that everything Israel does is perfectly okay. Its the leftist Jews that sling that around, just like the left in America slings around the "racist " charge.
The left has gone too far, and American Jews are increasingly supporting the GOP.
To: FITZ
The basic meaning of "chosen" is that they are the means by which the Lord has "chosen" to save all mankind.
See Isaiah 52:15. The Lord has "sprinkled the nations" with the blood of Israel. The blessings of Abraham are available to all who come unto Christ and are saved.
We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Israel for this gift, but in the end, it is up to the individual to accept it.
This goes for individual Jews as well.
