Saddam has fallen. But Fidel Castro has never been more popular -- at least among Hollywood elites. So says cyber-journalist Andrew Breitbart -- co-author of the forthcoming book Hollywood Interrupted.
As Castro's latest crackdown on dissidents reaches fever pitch, HBO has announced the May broadcast of "Comandante" -- a documentary about Castro co-directed by Oliver Stone and the Cuban dictator himself. Given the country's patriotic mood, it hardly seems likely that HBO expects "Comandante" to make money. This one is definitely for love.
At least, Hollywood insiders will enjoy it. Breitbart notes in an OpinionJournal.com op-ed, that "media moguls, celebrity journalists, filmmakers and Hollywood glitterati... continue to break bread with the Cuban dictator and idolize him..."
Given the number of Tinseltown celebrities who come knocking at Castro's door, seeking the obligatory private dinner, it is surprising that the Marxist strongman finds time for imprisoning and torturing critics.
Yoko Ono recently organized a $6,500-per-head junket for New York media bigwigs to meet Castro -- only the latest in an endless series of similar VIP pilgrimmages.
Director Stephen Spielberg described his November meeting with the Cuban tyrant as "the eight most important hours of my life." Of his own Castro visit, Kevin Costner remarked, "It was the experience of a lifetime." Jack Nicholson said, "He is a genius."
We must turn our backs on Hollywood, ladies and gentleman. Tinseltown must go the way of the Dixie Chicks. The boycott must be consistent, thorough, permanent and terminal. It is the only way.
UPDATE: Three men who tried to escape Communist Cuba by hijacking a ferry boat were executed by firing squad Friday morning.
"We appealed the same day as the trial, but they never gave us time to get a good lawyer," said María Ester Montoya Isaac, half sister of one of the slain men. "...We hardly had time to talk to him. ... My family is devastated. My mother is having a heart attack, she is hysterical. She is going crazy. And my other sister is controlling her blood pressure with pills.
''He was shot in less than 24 hours. We want the world to know what happened here. They say that there is no death penalty in this country. The world needs to know who El Comandante Fidel Castro is. He was the one who directed all of this, the trial, the firing squad, everything.''

How much are studios paying audiences to go to movies these days?

Hollywood is dying if it isn't dead already. It's not the same as it used to be and the public is forcing the change by shutting them out.
The old hats like serandin, robbins, what's his name on the West wing show, Sean Penn, Cher, Striesannd, aniston, ferral, etc, etc, etc....they are all SO STALE....look at them. Do you see a handsome or glamourous person when you look at them? I dont'. I see disheveled, old, stale, big mouths, boring, old hat, sameo sameo and all that other stuff. Nope, Hollywood has to make some big, big changes because the American public has wised up and learnd a lot more through FNC, Free Republic, Drudge, NewsMax, Rush, Hannity and on and on. There is no glamour in Hollywood, only skin...
Which reminds me...we watched the CMT Flameworthy Awards or I should say we taped it. That way we watched it later and could run through the silly chatter prior to giving awards and God forbid...Pamela Anderson? Holy Smokes. She looked like a piece of bubblegum all evening...when will that woman grow up and act her age or at least dress more decent? She added nothing to the show but little respect for herself, silliness and boobs that looked like bowling balls under her dress and then comments all about how they (her earrings) were real. Yipes. How embarassing for her family.
Faith Hill looked Beautiful and classy, same with Martina McBride... looked gorgeous in her little wispy dress, Tim McGraw...I don't know. He's looking too grody for my taste anymore. Alan Jackson...AHHHH, what can be said about him? Clean looking, sharp, handsome, sweet face, nice clothes and the best voioce. He's great. Darryl Worley...looked and sang great and has a host of fans who love and respect him.
Sheryl crow probably felt very uncomfortable in the arena where there were so many patriotic people...I dont' think she can sing anyway and that song she and Kid Rock did...well....not for me. Notice she didn't have a NO WAR strap anywhere and she said NOTHING about the war.
Also what was it with that Brett somebody from that old comedy sitcom? She said we should forgivbe the Dixie Chicks in three weeks? Guess the audience let her know how they felt about that. She can speak for herself...not me or mine nor a lot of other people as she found out.
The show could have been hosted by Toby all by himself. What a great finale he performed. All the confetti, fireworks, great music, flags...it was wonderful.
Sorry, didn't mean to go off on another topic but it kinda melted into another one. All my own humble opinion but just had to give praise where praise was due and then vent on others I guess. :) Have a great weekend everyone.

Whereas the Hollywood elites consider themselves citizens of the world, they forget the country and their American fans who made their lifestyle possible in the first place. Boycott their movies, records and concerts. All of you visiting Las Vegas and other gambling casinos, be sure you boycott the shows featuring the anti-war; anti-American celebrities.
Never forget the Black Caucus members who embrace Castro or the Socialist Democrats who have visited and apologized for Americans; all those members of the DSA are Castro/communist sympathizers as well as Saddams regime. Go after them all!

Does anyone know exactly what percentage of the entire US population does Hollywood consist? Interesting to compare that to their assumptions that they represent dominant opinion of the average American. Their realm of influence is appalling and their unchallenged access to the liberal media and public stage is obscene.....

You nailed it!
Their realm of influence is appalling and their unchallenged access to the liberal media and public stage is obscene..... The left wing maggot infested mediots enable the Anti Americans of Follywood to have this influence. The mediots ignore their ugly realities and works 24/7 to make them appear to be wonderful citizens.

Go to http://www.bradpaisley.com to read the lyrics to the "Celebrity" song and hear a clip.
"Cause when you're a Celebrity
It's adios reality You' can act just like a fool
People think you're cool
Just cause your on TV.
I can throw major fits
When my latte isn't just how I like it
They say I've gone insane,
I'll blame it on the fame,
And the pressures that it goes with
Being a Celebrity
uh huh"

The other ship 50 miles away thought the flares from the titanic were celebrations ...
they turned off the telegraph ---
when the berlin wall went down you would think they would have noticed something !
