Ex-Prez Blames Republicans for Boos

Ex-President Bill Clinton blamed Republicans for the boos he got Wednesday night at a birthday concert for country singer Willie Nelson at New York's Beacon Theater.

"The place went wild when [Clinton] was announced," reports Friday's New York Post Page Six. "There was loud booing and yelling."

Several callers to WABC Radio's Steve Malzberg Show who attended the event described the scene afterward. One quoted the ex-prez as complaining, "I see the Republicans are here tonight."

Another saw a fellow concertgoer who stood up, booed and gave Clinton the finger - prompting security to escort him out of the hall.

The Post confirmed Clinton's Republican comment, adding that he "seemed angered" at his reception.

The remark riled the crowd so much, said the paper, that when Nelson returned to the stage, he asked if everyone was all right.

The concert was taped for a Memorial Day airing on the USA network. "No way will they include the Clinton booing in the broadcast," predicted Malzberg.

Listen to Steve Malzberg in his new time slot on WABC, 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. ET weeknights, 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Sundays.

Even if this be anisolated incident I enjoy it as a vindication, even if for one night he has reaped what he deserved.

Serious question my daughter asked me: "If I threw holy water on Clinton and he dissolved in a puff of smoke, would the Secret Service arrest me?"

Clinton had a plurality not a majority. He never got more than 50% of the vote. I may be wrong but I believe W got higher popular vote numbers than Clinton (I could swear I've heard Rush make this statement more than once but my brain cells are a bit overloaded lately so please don't yell at me if I've misremembered).

Civility

n 1: formal or perfunctory politeness [ant: incivility] 2: the act of showing regard for others [syn: politeness] see civil: adjective: of or in a condition of social order (Example: "Civil peoples")
adjective: not rude; marked by satisfactory (or especially minimal) adherence to social usages and sufficient but not noteworthy consideration for others.

The point of civility and politeness is to show regard to the recipient of your behavior, and to allow for "civil" discourse. When you have no regard for a person, because his behavior has been beyond all bounds of propriety, and reflects an utter disregard for all of the contracts and values held by a society, then that person has put himself beyond civility.

In adddition to refusing to conform to norms of behavior expected of a citizen, the Rapist-in-chief also failed to conform to the norms of behavior expected of a high office holder, and in his position, while purporting to REPRESENT his country, he brought shame and ignomy on himself , his office and his nation. As though this were not enough, his ineptitude and greed placed vital national security at risk, endangering the lives of his countrymen.

Unlike Richard Nixon, he has no sense of shame, and chooses not to acknowledge the unacceptability of his conduct, instead thrusting himself into public arenas, much as OJ Simpson did, until OJ finally got the point that jury nullification cannot restore any claim to humanity or honor.

Boos and shunning are the only appropriate response until he has apologised and conformed his behavior into socially acceptable norms. If he were able to realise the depths of his depravity, he would never show his face again.

in other words...ditto.

Sooner or later they always reveal themselves. I wonder how long this one can go on before he makes a blunder. HA!

Must have led a very sheltered life if he thinks booing is an unacceptable social response. I think it is fitting. It's our own American way of knocking the head off the statue.

This is exactly what we need now, the angry Clinton...we want everyone to see what a psychotic this guy is and maybe this country will be fully redeemed.

Bite your tongue. My sister bought tickets (for all the females in the family) to the Dixie Chicks concert here in Salt Lake City just a week before the Chicks showed their true colors. I've been tempted to boycott, but don't feel right wasting my sister's money. So, I intend to go, but I'm taking my "I love George W" sign to show them.

If I thought there were nothing but Democrats at the concert, that would be a deal killer. Thank heavens, Dems are in a severe minority in Utah.

It's impossible to an ego like his to fathom that just the average person dipises him and what he stands for on the most basic level, regardless of party affiliation.

"I may be wrong but I believe W got higher popular vote numbers than Clinton" Maybe so, but he wasn't running against Clinton - he got less of the popular vote than his opponent.

Slicing & dicing is fun in the kitchen - but this has nothing to do with the vote counts. Either way - the popular vote doesn't really matter, nor does the percentage of the vote - only who won matters.

"Ex-President Bill Clinton blamed Republicans for the boos he got Wednesday night at a birthday concert for country singer Willie Nelson at New York's Beacon Theater."

Yeah, blame Republicans. Sure. As if Clinton didn't have eight years to do what the "Coalition of the Willing" just accomplished. Clinton is one x-president who would never think to look in the mirror to find the source for why the majority of people are disgusted with him.

Republican or not, Americans and many around the globe are beginning to realize just how little Clinton accomplished in eight years (and now folks are making note of all the things he (Clinton) could have done, but didn't). After all, what wasn't resolved is now coming out, everywhere.

What we inherited in January 2001 was a festering cancer, due to years of neglect, indifference and the inability to lead.

"gave Clinton the finger - prompting security to escort him out of the hall

An abrogation of his first-amendment rights? If the roles were reversed, Clinton would certainly whine about it!"

Not defending Clinton mind you, but if you did this at a Bush event, you'd be tackled and escorted out immediately. Probably even arrested and most certainly interrogated mighty hard. The Secret Service doesn't put up with anything that looks threatening at all.
