That may be, and for good reason.

I'm going to say something here that would have been considered blasphemy when Greta was first hired.

I think I like her show the best of their entire lineup.

That doesn't mean I don't enjoy the others--Shep Smith comes in a close second--but when her show comes on I know I'm going to get nearly-uninterrupted INFORMATION.

She always has fabulous guests who know their stuff, she always asks to-the-point questions, and she NEVER gets in the way. She is NEVER the star.

One "advantage" I have over many others here is that I've NEVER been a news-junkie before. I always got my news from the newspaper and from books, never from network television. For the past ten years I have counted on Rush Limbaugh for news. For the past five, Free Republic.

Even after I got Fox News on Dish, I didn't watch it because I "knew" that it would contain people I didn't want to hear from.

I began watching Fox, finally, on 9/11, and I have pretty much stuck with it ever since. I even enjoy Hannity and Colmes, which I never would have expected (because I thought it would be just another "screaming face" show like the old CNN "Crossfire" which I never enjoyed).

Even Alan Colmes comes up with some good stuff now and again, is respectful to guests (probably even more than Hannity is), and challenges them to get their facts straight. I respect Alan enough that I'll even listen to his radio program if I happen to be in the car of an evening.

I never watched Greta when she was on CNN, so I had no opinion save what others here would say (and that was uniformly negative; when she was hired, many people here "lost it," almost as much as they did when Geraldo came aboard).

But I repeat: I enjoy Greta's show very, very much, and I don't mind saying it. Kudos to her and props to Fox for hiring her.

Well I'm very much like you in that respect. Around 1993 I discovered the Prodigy online network and talk radio and hardly ever turned on a television set again - especially for news. I couldn't stand seeing Clinton's mug on the tube and like you, I detested the screaming "talking head" shows with the Eleanor Clifts and such. From that point on, I got all my news from talk radio, newspapers and Prodigy (later the Internet and Free Republic). You might be aware that Free Republic itself derived from the Prodigy News Bulletin Boards. Jim Robinson was a poster there who decided to start a site of his own. And here we are!

Once Bush was elected, I found it safe to watch the news on TV again. But I didn't watch much of it until after 9/11. Since about the middle of March, when it appeared that the war in Iraq was imminent, I've been tuned in everynight. I have now become a fan of FoxNews to the point where I'll probably watch at least a little of it each night from this point on, much to the disdain of the rest of my family who are accustomed to watching pretty much whatever they want!

BTW, Greta is set to interview the ambassador to Syria tonight. Should be interesting.

I agree. As someone who originally protested to FNC when Greta was hired from CNN, I now have to say I've been very impressed with her wartime coverage with "her generals" and especially her shows about terrorism. There is definite SUBSTANCE to the material she brings forth, and each topic is usually explored - without a lot of shouting - in-depth, unlike some of the other FNC shows (at times).

I have to admit, when she was covering the missing children or the Gary Condit situation, I found her shows with Mark Garagos, etc. to be pretty tedious (when it was the same thing, night after night). Oddly, her legal knowledge and OJ trial reporting background is probably why she was hired... I think she's learned quite a bit (along with the rest of us) from her nightly military guests. AND... surprise, surprise... she seems quite patriotic and very supportive of our troops as well.
