Chip Reed was just on MSNBC a minute ago calling in a report that the troops he's imbedded with had just arrived at a Marine checkpoint in Baghdad only moments after a suicide bomber had attacked...nothing further...

Well, that interferes with the work of being welcome to the rest of the folk we are trying to help now. You saw the footage of friendlies and celebrations hand in hand with our troops. We need that for them to support us being there. No rule is going to achieve 100%, it is gonna be a mess for some time. Lull periods of safety, and madmen who will take advantage of that.

The Marines recieved a tip that there was a leadership target in the north of the city by a mosque. The Marines arrived on the scene and a huge firefight erupted. One marine was killed and 22 were injured in the fighting. All of the Iraqis were captured or killed. The leadership caravan escaped. That's how it was reported on Fox/CNN. This occurred today.

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A suicide bomber seriously wounded four U.S. Marines at a military checkpoint in Baghdad on Thursday, CNN television said.

CNN reporter Walter Rogers said from near the Palestine Hotel in central Baghdad that he could see smoke rising from the scene in the distance.

He quoted military officials as saying the four Marines were seriously wounded but gave few other details.

The ABC radio news is still reporting that those resisting the coalition forces are iraqis, but Ollie North has stated that most of the remaining resistance is from the imported islamotrash.

I'll guess that most iraqi ba'athists are now looking to somehow save their skin, not kill themselves.
