An intelligence source says that United States Defence Secetary Donald Rumsfeld last week ordered the drawing up of contingency plans for a possible invasion of Syria, New York Newsday reported Thursday.
According to the newspaper's website, Undersecretary of Defence Douglas Ferth is working on a policy paper highlighting how the nation of Syria's support of terrorist groups is a threat to the region.
But the newspaper also reported that a senior Pentagon officer said he was unaware of any new planning involving Syria.
Secretary Rumsfled said Wednesday that Syria had allowed Iraqi regieme figures to enter the nation and provided Iraq with military technology.

I had a local report from an Iranian colleague, through family, that one night last week all the lights went out from Baghdad to Tehran. And lots of cars sporting Iraqi flags were observed. Hmmm...

Yes, but we don't announce our "CONTINGENCY" plans for invading Mehico or Canada. This is to put Syria on notice. Let's see if they listen or want to wait until we pile 3 divisions on their border and a MEF off the coast.

Unless the source is FoxNews I won't believe it. This article says "intelligence source" but I heard yesterday that CLINTON is the one who spoke these words.

Beck.. Correct
The DOD did not announce the plan officially, rather via the backdoor method. Prolly Damascus gets the message.

That's why I suggested that this was a readjustment of plans based on our forces in the area.

That IS intriguing. I can understand the lights going out in Baghdad, but to go out all the way to Tehran is curious.

Meanwhile, a squad of bicycle mounted Campfire Girls will push North from Detroit, capture Windsor, Ontario, Check your geography. Windsor is actually south of Detroit.
and clear the way for the capture of Ottowa by a company of Second Amendment Sisters.
Ottawa is four or five hundred miles from Windsor/Detroit. Much easier to just go the 60 miles north up highway 16 from the bridge over the St. Lawrence at Prescott.
(BTW, the last time the US tried to invade Canada got Washington DC burned, although Canada had British support then. Don't know that they would this time.)

The 4th Inf Div needs some combat experience. Since they are the largest we've got, might as well get in some real life training.

Yeah, I didn't think that we would ship in the 4th ID, just to pack it back up and send it home.

Boy, I was wondering why we went to all that expense to send the 4th Infantry Division over there after Hussein's regime had collapsed...

Expect very shortly proof to come out that before the war, Saddam sent WMDs, and technology, and scientists, to Syria...it'll be confirmed absolutely..now, one of the reasons we went into Iraq was to disarm it, so we have to do the same to Syria..and we just can't take his word for it that he'll destroy them....we'll have to sent in the 4ID "inspectors...
