There is too much to report, and most of it will have to wait for the morning. But now, as I write this, many of the most senior of Saddam's henchmen are confirmed to be in Syria. The resort city of Latakia, with its beautiful beaches, now hosts them. And Syrian banks hold many millions that were looted from Iraq. Intelligence sources--the best of them--report that the Saddam regime's top people and their families are now in Syria. It may be the top five or the top ten, but the traffic into Latakia from Baghdad over the past week or two has been very heavy. Beach? Someone needs to dial 1-800-SEALS and 011-44-207-SBS.
All are not smiling in Baghdad. Especially those who were members of the Baath party. At least one of them is dead, hanged by an angry mob. There is some popular revenge, and we may not be able to stop it. Our guys only hold about twenty-five percent of Baghdad securely.Consider one fact: Oliver North confirms that of the "Saddam fedayeen" encountered so far, none--zero--have been identified as Iraqis. Among the ones who engaged the Marines, which means among the dead, there are Jordanians, Syrians, Palestinians, Egyptians, Sudanese, Afghanis, and some from the UAE. But no Iraqis. Imported terrorists, not home grown. More tomorrow morning.

We need to take care of this threat before it becomes another headquarters of terror from Syria to disrupt post-war Iraq.

What's that police term for following the bad guys across the state border?
To: CROSSHIGHWAYMAN
I think it's death in the middle of the night by shadowy mystery Israeli intelligence officers ;)

I think it called the right of hot pursuit.
It should be utilized in the case of Syria.

The henchmen who fled won't be sleeping too well. On the one hand I can bet Syria will only tolerate them as long as they have money and shut up. On the other hand, they have to worry about strange visitors in the night. They are not exempt from the war on terror just because they are a few miles away in Syria. And who knows? Perhaps in the near future they, and Assad's henchmen will have to flee to Libya.

Do we do the polite thing and first ask President Assad to turn over these sh#tbirds, or do we just skip the pleasantries and the expected negative response and order the 3rd Armored Division to hang a left and head for Damascus?

Unsubstantiated allegation. No names , no wives names, no photos, nothing but some salable words on a page.

Right.
It looks like Iraq was structured very closely along Afghanistan Taliban lines: a foreign mercenary force, staffed by Palestinians, Egyptians, Syrians, Saudis and other fundamentalist nuts supressing a native population and taking the entire state over and using it like a virus uses a body cell for a host - to produce more terrorism eslewhere.
They have to do something about Syria until these stupid, fanatical haters get the message.

His henchmen? But where are the dastardly masterminds associated with this evil-doer?
Sometimes I feel like I'm reading a Batman comic book when I see these reports.
(My apologies for the interruption. Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.)

Politically, war with Syria is a different animal altogether than with Iraq.
IMO, it would be the US and Israel alone...a bad move for Globalism.

For what its worth, Phil Hendrie said days ago that Saddam himself is in Syria at a resort hotel on the beach. Now, Phil usually is a comdeidian but for some reason seems dead serious about this. For what its worth.

Syria should have learned quite a lesson. Perhaps this is what we should do diplomatically first:
1. Demand that all money taken from Iraq be returned and cooperate with freezing assets
2. Turn over for trial those who are suspected of war crimes.
3. Give them specific intel about terrorist training camps and tell them to destroy them.
4. Give them a list of other bad guys suspected to be in their country for an "interview" with us.
5. Present to them their own Resolution 1441. I think that we just showed the world what full compliance means. If they want to cooperate with the UN this time, that's fine. If not, that's fine, too.
6. Release political prisoners and immediately end human rights abuses.
7. End all funding of terrorism anywhere in the world.
It is their choice to do it the easy way or the hard way.
