[history]
THREE weeks into the Iraqi War, the cancerous Ba'athist regime has been destroyed, and the hunt for Saddam has become a bunker-buster version of the carnival game in which the chipmunk's head pops up through a hole in the board, and you clobber him with a mallet.

I don't know how it happened, but I am also a conservative raised by Democrats, and from a long line of them.
Must be a recessive gene or something.
Actually, my family's not evil, just misguided. If I just closed my eyes to the truth, and repeated "Democrats are for the working man" over and over again constantly for, oh, I don't konw, maybe a year or two, then I would be just like them.
Luckily, when your family flies the D pennant, its an easy way to follow JCs advice to "love your enemy".

Hmmmmm....When they say movement does that have the word "bowel" in front of it? ;)

"It is for this reason that I came to the conclusion that leftist/liberalism is a mental illness. It is a NEED to be adverserial. It masks great anger. No entity can live up to the standards which they impose ON OTHERS.
It is a way of avoiding looking at themselves."
Amen!!!
Now pass those freaks the Prozac!

It dawned on me a few weeks ago that the ANSWER has something in common with Saddam. Saddam is a Ba'athist a Socialist party. These guys can not stand the idea of another Socalist failure. Now that you mention it, here is a prototypical leftist response to Saddam's defeat:

69. This is a sad day for "progressives" around the world. Our heros are spinning in their graves ... Stalin: spinning. Pol Pot: spinning. Karl Marx: spinning. The evil capatalist pigs, enthralled by their oil money dictators have staged a "Hollywood" production, wherein poor, oppressed Iraqi ciizens, corrupted by the evil American Dollar, have been paid to defile one of the great socialist leaders in the world. |
But we are not fooled by this American propaganda effort. The Iraqi people LOVED Saddam, as we love Saddam and all our heros: Stalin, Marx, Lenin, Mao, Pol Pot, and Castro. Viva La Revolucion!!! Death to the capatalist Pigs!!! Vote for Al Gore!!! |

LOL!! Don't forget about the failed social experiment that was the 60's.They are still mad about that one too.
To: spodefly
please do you have a link for that. I've got some people I would like to show it to.

I am afraid that I undulged in a bit of satire to create that one ... actually, had it been a real post from that cesspool, it would have had 30 little twinkling barf gifs and several dozen quotes from radical leftist figures ... You should have known ... ;)

Boy, did someone put a pebble in his Granola.
Living in Texas, it's hard to believe that such people exist. I know that they do, sometimes even in the Great State. Perfect description of "out in left field".

You can see this on leftist sites especially when a younger person wanders in. Frankly it's troubling. I want people to think for themselves period. At the end of the day I may disagree with them but peer pressure and indoctrination whether by the left or the right is wrong.

Identify one (1) (only one) principal that you can swing your family on by showing them the truth or inconsistencies in the argument. Take your time, don't discuss or debate their other beliefs. Actually acknowledge their set of beliefs and don't deny your beliefs. When you can sway them on this one facet of their ideaology, tell them to challenge their group over that one principal. The group will push them away, and they may get a real eye-opener.
OK, Example. I was involved with a group that was dealing with "racism in the schools". They claimed that their underlying goal was to end racism, something we can all agree with. When I pointed out that the goal of continuing forced bussing was detrimental to all the kids because it fostered resentment in the schools and highlighted class differences (because poor black children were being shipped into suburban white neighborhoods), the leaders of the group went BALLISTIC. Turns out they saw my comment as a threat to their inner city white historic neighborhoods that were essentially immune from bussing. No hope for the leaders, but many others quit when they realized the underlying motives of the leaders.

Thank you for posting this on FR. I just found it from a link on
Rush's website, so I came looking for it here.
Big dittos to Mark Goldblatt! His article relates what I've thought all along about the Left, but couldn't quite find the right words to explain. Mr. Goldblatt is to be commended.
It was good of you, SWL, to collect the list of other articles relating to the subject. I firmly believe Mark Goldblatt's article is rightly placed at the top.
