BAGHDAD FALLS! AMERICA TRIUMPHS!

April 9, 2003: At last! The whining pessimists, peacelovers, naysayers and nitpickers in the the media have again been chastened by the hard facts of reality. Just as Rummy hoped they would, Saddam's much-celebrated Republican Guard defenses have obligingly folded like the back seat of a politically-incorrect SUV. And just as much-maligned Vice-President Dick Cheney predicted they would, crowds of happy Iraqis have gathered in the center of Baghdad to welcome their American liberators.

Good point about the troops still being in harm's way - there may be "pockets of resistance" for weeks or even months. I always recall the closing scene of The Dirty Dozen where they are leaving the German compound, and one of the Dozen stands up and says, "We did it!" Just then he's gunned down by the last surviving German soldier. Be on your guard, troops, there's still bad guys running around.

Title should have read: "Saddam falls-Bagdad rises in jubelation, as America triumphs." IMO, The title of this thread really should have read what Iraqi emigre Ihsan Nirza JOYOUSLY celebrating in the streets of Dearborn MI, said to a local newsman on ABC just before they cut away to Rummy's news conference:
"THIS IS THE MOTHER OF ALL DAYS"
Amen.

LOL actually if they all did a Jim Jones I would lose some of my entertainment. Maybe you could put out a rumor that their hero Saddam has ordered them to drink the koolaid now. For entertainment, you could go watch the monkeys at the zoo who are quite a bit more interesting than democrats.

"NON!! Il ne peut pas être! Maintenant où obtiendrons-nous notre huile? Nous devons rendu aux ETATS-UNIS immédiatement!"

"Damn yankee gringos, how DARE they kill my look-alike president in Iraq without having ME approve it first!"

"Hey! You can't take over Baghdad unless I give the orders as commander-in-chief. Arrest that man Bush for blantantly defying the decisions of President Barlett!"

Shame on you for overthrowing a nation that embraces wonderful communist principles. The only way to stop Bush is for us to impliment THE FINAL SOLUTION!"

"Our great friend and ally Saddam has fallen. This the worse day of my life"
