You mean he might live for us to hang him? That would be a nice bonus.
At this point, I don't believe anything, though.

I was watching this breaking announcement on MSNBC. Also said Saddam and the one injured son are now in Tikrit, seeking medical assistance from Syria.

This is BS. They are just trying to hold on to hope. Mark my words, Saddam is dead.

What if they just say he is dead so we'll stop bombing, and Saddam can sneak off to a villa in Syria (if he hasn't already done so)?
To: Timesink
I'll believe it when Baghdad Bob denies it.

INTERNATION INTRIGUE ALERT:
John Loftus had an interesting take last night on Batchelor and Alexander.
Loftus is tying the strike on Monday to the story of the attack on the Russian diplomats as they were leaving Iraq.
Loftus maintains that SH was killed on 3/19. He says that Russians not friendly to Putin (Primakov, i.e.) have been aiding Iraq through the sale of weapons and by using the Russian Embassy as a command and control center. This is the tie-in with the Jaguar satellite phones. The Russians provided them to the Iraqis.
Once the Iraq friendly Russians figured out those phones had been compromised, they knew they were had and that's when they had to get out of dodge with archival information which proved their duplicity. That's where the story about the Russian convoy (which was guarded by Iraqi soldiers) comes in. Loftus says we intercepted that convoy and that there was fire exchanged. We prevailed and most likely took some or all of the archival info from them. (Loftus was uncommittal when asked whether or not we got it, but he left the listener with the impression that we did.)
Upon leaving, the Russians warned the Iraqi leadership that all their communications were compromised. Loftus said the action on Monday was a sting by the Iraqis to see if that was so. The Iraqis used a SH double to go into that restaurant and used tapes of conversations over phone lines, not real ones, to lure us into a sting.
I don't understand all this, but with this scenario, lots of puzzle pieces fall into place, including why Bush has been seemingly so tolerant toward Putin.

Oh goodie! It looks like the 4th Infantry Division will get in on this fight after all. IMHO, GWB has been saving Tikrit for last because it's Sodom's hometown, home of the Ba'ath Party, and base of the last existing Republican Guard division in Iraq. It's the logical place Sodom would retreat to when the enemy was at the gate. (If he isn't maggot-chow already, that is.)

It's not the RG, it's a rival political party that has "Republican" in its name.

Who cares what they claim. Assume the b&st&rds are alive and go from there. If we catch them, turn them over to the mob. Their trial will be shorter than their tenure on the end of a rope!
