Operation Iraqi Freedom
This thread is dedicated to the brave men and women of the
Armed Forces of the United States of America.
"Wish You Were Here"
For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.
Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Ah, Heather. Yes, Heather. She doesn't even seem to have much make-up on. Remarkable.

"In its' first mobilization of forces to a potential combat zone since the Vietnam War, the Coast Guard is sending roughly 1400 personnel and eight cutters to the Persian Gulf.
There are several sources. This is one and it was at the end of January. Their function is to prevent incidents such as the Cole.

Department of Defense Directive 1005.8. Again, I don't know if it applies to seals, logos, etc. Coast Guard moves ahead of Air Force in war time.

[Khuder Al-Emeri, 43, center, working for the U.S. Marines 24th Expeditionary Unit as an interpreter, is reunited with local villagers after 12 years...] I just saw a report on this man on CNN, Bob Franken was the reporter. The people of the village were cheering the US troops and even put a wreath of flowers on one of them! Hopefully it will run again in 2-3 hours.
There's also an article on this in the National Post. I like his quote in the last paragraph: "While coalition officials hope the Free Iraqi Forces will form the basis of the next Iraqi army, Mr. Al-Emeri dismissed a leadership role for himself. "It's up to the people, it's democratic," he said."

Good Morning, All.
Checking in later than usual, and was wondering if anything further had been said about Allan's post #3917 from yesterday's thread regarding the retired Russian generals running the Iraq offensive.
'Retired' Russian generals Atelov and Matsov have been in charge of Iraqi command and control. That is why no communications from Iraqi command and control have been intercepted since the start of the war. The Russians have been directing everything.

So you're the first soldier into Sodomy's best palace.
Where do you head first?
Hmmmmmmmm. I'm off for the licquor cabinet first. Get me some whiskey to choke down the dust from the day. Then I'm going to check out that luxurious bed you know he has. Maybe do some jumping jacks on that bad boy and break down the springs.
Next up would be pics with my buds in Sodomy's silk bathrobe to show the folks back home. A nice cigar would add the right touch.

Heavy young male foot traffic in the circle again. And now a big herd of military-age males headed back the other way, across the street from the cam.
