Operation Iraqi Freedom
This thread is dedicated to the brave men and women of the
Armed Forces of the United States of America.
"Wish You Were Here"
For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.
Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

Anyone heard from Ahmed?
Wasn't that Ahmed riding the head of Saddam as it was pulled through the town circle?
[just kidding]

"I'm going to miss Baghdad Bob."
I'm sad that we haven't seen him today. I looked forward to his daily words of delirium.
To: lavrenti
Baghdab Bob.....Comical Ali! I'll miss him too.

I see the military took my advice. I said they should pack a LOT of American flags.
To: scab4faa
Baghdad Bob has left the building
Saddam and the boys didn't.
lol
To: TomGuy
hehehehehe
To: TomGuy
It appears as though the draping of the American flag over the face of Saddam today hasn't caused a stir.....I was sure that it would be used to some extent by the propogandists...

>Baghdad Bob has left the building Saddam and the boys didn't. I get the feeling that Baghdad Bob didn't get out of the garage this morning when he realized that Saddam and the boys left the planet.

Anyone else just see Jeff Goldblatt on Fox Report? He's in Dearborn, MI at the big celebration. He said the only time it got ugly is when Al-Jezeera showed up. A bunch of the former Iraqi's started shouting that Al-Jezeera spreads lies.

I just got the CBS cam going, it was a little slow connecting.

I am looking at the front page of Al-Jazeera's english language website. Here are some of the stories they are headlining.
Anarchy amid the euphoria
Will US manufacture evidence of WMD's.
Dead Correspondant was deliberately targeted
oh... and they say they bring us fair and balanced news on the site. Good grief.

I agree with the first part, but I'm guessing some Iraqis tore down the "Human Shield" sign and wrote the wankers part on it. They probably were educated in Britain and thus the U.S. wanker reference.
To: Robert A. Cook, PE
I hope those Brit. human shields are not still in Baghdad...the freed Iraqis might kill the "peaceniks." Did you see the happy crowds in Dearborn? A few Iraqi exiles were restrained by Mich. police to keep them from attacking an Al Jazeera reporter. They are not happy with a press that lied for Saddam all these years. I hope AP and BBC are paying attention.

FNC-Al Jazeera reporter confronted, booed, escorted away from Deerborn MI rally.
Similar happened in s. Iraq earlier today. Reporters (I think also Al Jazeera) where chased across the border and the Kuwaiti police had to protect them.

Two questions:
Did anyone see Peter Arnett today?
Are all the folks in Tigrit bad folks?

I'm sure we manufactured that evidence. (wink, wink)

We should target them in one of our bombing missions even if we have to fly competely out of our way just to hit them.. Pathetic losers..
