Operation Iraqi Freedom
This thread is dedicated to the brave men and women of the
Armed Forces of the United States of America.
"Wish You Were Here"
For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.
Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...

I love when Hugh Grant said it in Bridget Jones! I've used that word to my advantage a few times. (I can be a real smart a$$ at times!)

A quote from Henry Ward Beecher posted today on NRO's The Corner:
"Not another flag has such an errand, carrying everywhere, the world around, such hope for freedom - such glorious tidings."

NTV Cam has both sound and audio. Bazooka is currently trying to get her take down.

Hanity didn't know the significance of slapping Saddam's images with sandals. Either that, or he blew off an earlier caller.

I'd like the chance down the road to sit down and watch a DVD and reflect on all that happened in such a short time...the last three weeks are kind of a blur, so many stunning images day after day.

Beautiful quote! Thanks for sharing that!

God bless our troops!
Let freedom ring throughout the middle east!

I was in Belgium with a group of political science students the day Reagan was first sworn in...we were studying the politics of Western Europe, went to 7 countries, visited NATO , etc....the professor was a flaming liberal and 21 of the 22 students were conservatives...we were all ecstatic watching the CBS feed of the Inaugural over Flemish TV in the hotel lobby that night (remember, the hostages were released from Iran the same day!)...our poor professor feared for the future of the country and the world. Little did he know...

Embassies burning documents - Chirac is going to be very busy tomorrow.

I bought two DVDs about 9/11 (including the documentary by the French brothers, which is truly stunning)...surely there would be an audience for something much more uplifting? Hope you're right.

"It's all lies," said the man, who would only identify himself as Abdu. "We are only burning garbage and recently cut grass." Geez, these guys NEVER know when to stop lying.

In 1982-84 I was completing 6th,7th and 8th grade and contemplating "going with" certain girls. :)
Intended to make you feel old. I hope it works. :)
